That is so tough for a family facing that situation. Somewhere we need to have a common sense approach to this.

As someone who works in the medical field I know we can keep you alive for a long time. There may not be any brain activity but if one wanted to you can keep the body alive.


It is the same thing when someone has a cardiac arrest. We go all out full force in trying to keep you alive. We break your ribs during CPR. Your body is being flailed like a rag doll but we want to do all we can to help you survive.

But at some point the code is called by a physician. We stop CPR and turn off everything and let that person have some dignity in passing away. There is no need to keep pounding his chest, sending high energy shocks to his chest, and pushing meds down his veins.


Nobody enjoys stopping the code. There is no celebration by the medical staff. We aren't butchering anyone.

Severe birth defects can occur in the third trimester, defects like only having a partial brain, for example. Calling this a "baby slaughter law" is an emotional response, not a rational one.

When you can get pregnant, carry a fetus to term, only to find that your new baby has a disorder that will make their life short and painful, then your opinion will have merit. It is supremely arrogant for you to judge a woman facing such a horror of a decision.

oh we get it, have a baby, dont want it, ok to kill it. At least we can drop the whole fetuses arent humans so its ok argument. Its now factually baby killing.
 
Can I summarize?

The OP is massively misleading. And that's being nice.


And on a side note, I started a thread saying that Trump would never lose the support of his base if he just kept tweeting about abortion, the wall and Jesus. I think 3-4 people in this thread proved that perfectly for me.
