A whopping 41% of pregnancies in New York City ended in abortion in 2009, and that rate was even higher among some minorities, according to new data released by the health department. Non-Hispanic blacks, for example, had a 59.8% abortion rate, while Hispanics had a rate of 41.3%. Asians and non-Hispanic whites, meanwhile, had lower rates of 22.7% and 20.4%, respectively.

No wonder the libbos are trying so hard to give amnesty to illegals. They're killing off all their future voters!
Wow, 60 percent of black women's pregnancies are aborted in New York? That seems unfathomable.
And the story says this was an improvement from the previous year? What in the hell is going on up there, other than a ton of casual schtooping.
Can you imagine the cost if this was covered by government-run healthcare?

Several reactions:
4. Just from a purely economic standpoint, an abortion is cheaper than a delivery, isn't it?
If they're killing off their future voters, why are you pissed off? Shouldnt you be jumping for joy?
What?
Thats one sick way of looking at it. Personally I would encourage giving up said child up for adoption. Abortion should only be legal in cases of rape and related crimes.
Several reactions:
1. That statistic is astounding and disheartening. 41% is a sickening rate of abortion, and shows just how messed up our society has become.
2. What makes you think those babies would grow up to be Democrats? Doesn't NY have a Republican mayor?
3. What makes you think that most of those abortions weren't paid for by the government in one way or another?

Pro lifers don't rejoice over any abortion. If they're killing off their future voters, why are you pissed off? Shouldnt you be jumping for joy?
Michael Bloomberg is no republican. He's an independent.2. What makes you think those babies would grow up to be Democrats? Doesn't NY have a Republican mayor?

The crazy part? Those numbers are actually an improvement. Twelve years ago, the city that never sleeps aborted 46% of its pregnancies, according to ABC. Still, no one’s really celebrating. “It is downright chilling,” the archbishop of New York told reporters, reiterating the Catholic Church's pro-abstinence stance. "There’s candy bowls on people's desks with condoms, they're dropping them from airplanes, yet nothing seems to improve, so they've been on the wrong track here." Planned Parenthood also bemoaned the figures, but said it only underscored the need for more comprehensive sex education.
yall dont think its only new york doing that do yall?
Please, you know Planned Parenthood is pleased. Abortions are a cash cow for them. The part you left out:
I agree 100% with Planned Parenthood, much more education is needed. It's criminal that they are not getting it.
I'm glad New Yorkers are using personal responsibility and a resource available to them. Otherwise Red State Conservatives and Republicans would constantly bitch about having to pay taxes for all those minorities even though their states are welfare states.
Right, kill 'em for their own good. That's ****ing brilliant.:roll:I was curious about this so I did some checking.
It was 40.6%
207,306 pregnancies reported
196,587 possible births
116,752 live births
79,835 induced abortions
10,719 natural abortions
no info on reasons for induced abortions or when they happened that "i" found but i didnt look to hard.
Either way I personally dont want abortion used for birth control but I still think its better than almost 80,000 kids born with the high possiblity of neglect, abuse, adoption or worse. Even if I round down the thought of 40,000 kids born into poverty, abuse, neglect or abortion is worse to me than the abotrtions everytime.
That really is embarrassingly high. NYC apparently needs some free condom programs or something.
The NYC Condom was launched on Valentine's Day, 2007 with a highly successful city-wide media campaign including bilingual subway ads, radio spots, club launch parties, and street teams distributing the NYC Condom at high pedestrian traffic spots throughout the city
...
Six months after the unveiling of the NYC Condom, the city's average monthly condom distribution increased from 1.5 million to more than 3 million condoms per month.
If the New Yorkers were exercising personal responsibility they would use condoms or birth control pills. But condoms don't feel as good do they? This statistic is evidence of a weak culture.
Go to their web site and see how they promote abortion. You think they make their money on their apparently ineffectual sex ed programs?Back that statement up with financial information.
