The Federal Drug Administration is calling us out for being total morons and they are 1000000% right. If you're one of the very misguided individuals self administering drugs meant for livestock to treat or prevent COVID-19 then you're out of your ever-loving mind. Stop it now.

This is not some stupid rumor, it is real. Real enough that the the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had to address it. They're formally urging people to stop taking veterinary drugs to treat or prevent Covid-19. Can you believe we actually have to be told this?!?!

The FDA had received multiple reports of patients who have been hospitalized after self medicating with a drug called ivermectin. Ivermectin is made for...get ready for this...horses, cows and sometimes sheep.

Just to drop some knowledge on ya...Ivermectin, is not even an anti-viral drug. It is used to prevent parasites in livestock. Come on dude...who's actually doing this?

THIS IS NOT A TREATMENT FOR COVID-19. I'll bet anything that the ones doing this are also too afraid to get a vaccine. I'll just leave it right there.

I say the sky is blue. Trumpster friends of mine say no, it's green.. They feel they have owned me... That's a simple, not deadly owning.. I don't care...

I say wear a mask. They say no, they don't do any good. They don't own me then, then it's a cult. I have no use for cults...

If some people want to take ivermectin in order to own liberals, that’s between them, their savings account and their medical insurance provider to sort out the consequences. I myself don’t care much either way.

EXCEPT they end up taking up Hospital beds just like anti-Vaxxers are doing, so if you need surgery or have a regular emergency, good luck finding Hospital bed.

I am not too worried, in the long run the hospitals will see more revenue and build out more capacity. Don’t get me wrong, it’s terrible how these people will exhaust much of their life savings, but at least the hospital will get more capacity, new equipment that will help others down the road.

What can I say, I’m a glass-half-full kind off guy :)

This is obvious propaganda because it only talks about veterinary usage to try to make it look worse.

It is routinely used in humans to treat a multitude of conditions.

Yes, yes, yes, Ivermectin has been adapted as a de-worming drug for horses. But, that's not all Ivermectin is, or does. So please do a little basic research on your own about Ivermectin.

Excellent info and video here (downloadable even, but censored everywhere else): https://rjvillanueva.com/the-history-of-ivermectin/

Ivermectin (IVM) is one of the best known and most widely used antiparasitic drugs in human and veterinary medicine all over the world. River blindness, elephantiasis, and a host of other parasitic maladies.
The guy who invented it got a Nobel Prize for his efforts. Merck was the big pharma who originally patented the drug but lost their patent in 1995 - it's now open source. Anyone can make it.

Literally BILLIONS of doses of Ivermectin have been given to humans around the world. Another name for the drug is called STROMECTAL.
Ivermectin is demonstrably so safe for humans, it's practically a wonder drug. Moreover, it's so easy to produce, it's practically FREE.

Studies have already shown, and such studies continue that demonstrate conclusively that Ivermectin is an effective inhibitor of Covid. And such studies continue.

But if you don't think there's big (and by "big" I mean "obscenely big") money involved in developing and producing and distributing the vaccines, you're seriously, seriously deluded.

The only "STUPID" people here are those who refuse to look into Ivermectin, its history and uses and potential value against Covid so as to make a more informed decision for themselves and their families.

man oh man talk about linking the most obscure sites to back your arguments:

I will go with the FDA and CDC, thank you.

They can’t maybe get that boob job during a pandemic. Tragic I say.

The drug was initially injected into the COVID treatment debate in mid-2020, thanks to a paper by Australian researchers who determined that at extremely high concentrations it showed some efficacy against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID, in the lab.

As pharmacological experts pointed out from the start, because of Ivermectin’s particular properties, it would be almost impossible to achieve the same concentrations of the drug in the human bloodstream that were used in the lab tests.

Of course that is not all, read the rest to show why this de-wormer is not an effective treatment for COVID.

that is a pretty small-minded reply and totally dismissive of people who DO need a hospital bed, I mean my God man, why would any human being make such an ugly comment?

Imagine being so committed to the Covid scam you actually write rageful nonsense like this

man oh man talk about linking the most obscure sites to back your arguments:

I will go with the FDA and CDC, thank you.
Ivermectin is routinely used in humans. According to the WHO it is the drug of choice for treating River blindness.

However it is an anti parasitic and would not work on a virus.

This is obvious propaganda because it only talks about veterinary usage to try to make it look worse.

It is routinely used in humans to treat a multitude of conditions.
Some of the media inevitably spin up the story (but then that happens with everything else too) but the FDA page itself is very clear and rational.

The fundamental issue is that Ivermectin can indeed be used in humans for some conditions but only as proscribed and under the observation of a medical professional. That means that, like any prescription-only medication, it isn't (legally) available for people to just buy, and for very good reasons. Formulations designed for animals is more easily available (though there could still be legal questions for both buyer and seller) so it is those specifically that some people have reportedly been obtaining for their own use, with some predictable negative consequences.

The root cause is the spin and misrepresentations, with people generating all sorts of stories and conspiracies about specific drugs and treatments for their own political and/or financial benefit with any rational advice and information being either drowned out or actively attacked as part of some cover-up.

The FDA page contains obvious misinformation like that masks slow the spread of Covid and that social distance of 6 feet is “effective” (which was invented from whole cloth)

So you have no disagreement with anything the wrote about Ivermectin then?

I have objection to that post in general.

As far as veterinary ivermectin sure. Although this problem is being caused because the government won’t allow doctors to prescribe it for their patients and if prescriptions are written there is liberal pharmacists (I’ve seen several on Twitter) who proudly boast they won’t fill them.

so this is a problem the government is creating.

Why should the FDA approve a form of treatment (which is more than just the name of a drug) if they don't have the data demonstrating it is a safe and effective for this purpose? How could doctors prescribe it if they don't have clear information about the full course of treatment (including things like dosages, other drugs involved etc.), circumstances when it should and should not be proscribed, contraindications, potential side-effects etc.? That is the kind of things the FDA (and their equivalents in other countries) would be responsible for (and responsible is the key word) if they did approve it.

The fact a particular drug is in all the headlines because a couple of people have made a big noise about them on social media is not a valid basis for approving medical treatments. There are all sorts of new drugs (or new uses for existing drugs) that are proposed, tested and often highly promoted by enthusiastic proponents, but that doesn't normally make it to the mainstream and so doesn't trigger these negative consequences. The ones that actually work progress to the point of approval and the ones which don't are forgotten about.

Well so what if it's "obscure?" Does that mean its content isn't worth even considering?
