If abortion = murder. Does contraception = mass murder ?

Catholics seem to think so.
What are your thoughts ?

if depends on when you believe human life takes on intrinsic value. if you believe this happens at conception, than all hormonal birth control would be considered abortion, because in addition to preventing conception, it also prevents implantation if conception does occure.

The fertilization of the egg is the beginning of a person's life because it is at that point which all the components have been assembled and all that remains is to nurture the person to full term.

Calling contraception "mass murder" is just dumb. Sperm cells alone can never be a human life. A fertilized egg IS the very beginning of a human life.

With contraception, the reproductive system is controlled to prevent life from even starting.

With abortion, the developing fetus is destroyed, halting a life-to-be.

So with contraception, you're not killing anything.
Is a miscarriage murder? Does a IUD kill?

Per the CDC, almost 60% of all abortions are after the use of contraception.

Wrong, fertilization is not a person at all, its a single cell. No more significant then your dandruff.

Calling abortion murder is equally as dumb.
And actually sperm cells can indeed produce another human life. You need to expand your mentality beyond the simple "natural" reproductive cycle.

Nope it is clearly and unequivically a false statement on your part. No where in the quote do I say any such thing. The life begins at conception, I clearly was writing about whether that life dies naturally, like most do, because the womb is not receptive and it lower the chance or survival (it still can and some do) or is purposely killed once it has implanted and is growing away in the womb.

I think there is something inconsistent with that argument. If you are taking birth control that lowers the chances of the womb being receptive, there is nothing natual about it.

if life begins at conception, then purposfully taking medication that causes the womb to reject any life that tries to attach to able to continue its development, is not much different from purposefully taking medication that causes the womb to reject a life after it has attached.

the biggest difference I see, is that with one you never know if life was conceived, and with the other you dont act until after you find out.
