I want to remind everybody of what the Statue of Liberty says, I forgot.

Back during the early 1900's America's immigration policies were strict. There were hundreds of thousands who couldn't pass muster and were put back on the boat. There was an old saying back then if you had a pimple on your face you could be sent back to Europe.

There are no records kept on how many immigrants couldn't make it in America and returned to their motherlands. It's believed maybe close to a million. At the time there was no free stuff in America. No social safety net. The only source of help was through the churches and your neighbors.

That's how it should be. Under this system, would you still oppose immigration?

I'm guessing yes, though you would probably never admit it, I think your reasons for opposing Mexicans (let's not pretend like it's anything other than FEREIGNERS that you are opposed to) is because they are not like you. Even if we got rid of all the socialist programs you would still find a reason to oppose immigration.

In America's capitalist free market system there are winners and there are losers. One thing about America unlike the way Europe was, in America you could pull yourself up by the boot straps and give it another try.

Yep. Unfortunately, over time, fatass lazy Americans developed an entitlement mentality and now think we deserve anything from "a job" to "a living wage," all via birthright.

There's a bar in Santa Monica where all of the illegal aliens from the UK hang out at and a bar in Hermosa Beach where the illegal aliens from Australia hang out at and they know me and they would would say your wrong. I don't live in a black and white world. It has to do with the rule of law and what's best for America.

"Fatass lazy Americans" ? The only people I ever heard using that phrase are illegal aliens from Mexico and radical white leftist.

I was watching an old episode of Huell Howser's "California Gold." He was visiting the businesses and interviewing the residents of a neighborhood around the Eagle Rock, Highland Park area in L.A. A very diversed neighborhood of Americans of Mexican decent, immigrants from Latin America, illegal aliens from Mexico a whole lot of anchor babies and young white liberals.

While interviewing a young white liberal lady outside of her gang graffiti covered apartment building Huell asked her about all the gang graffiti that seems to be on every building in her neighborhood. Her response was. "Isn't diversity great."

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

Well said. They should be using the door, rather than making their own.

More proof that we only pay lip service to our ideals. They sounds great but are too impractical for some.

Big surprise that they all happen to be white and speak English!

You hear Mexicans use that term? I never heard em say that, I think you're lying. And I don't subscribe to a left/right paradigm, only ignorant people do.

While I think the whole "diversity" is retarded and should be done away with, it's not because I don't like minorities. I don't think you can honestly say the same.

Go take some homeless immigrants into your home, feed clothe and house them for the rest of their lives at their sole discretion, then get back to us.

And our immigration laws should be enforced, they should be rounded up and deported.

Nope, they should be let in with a giant free for all.

Remember this lie back in 1965 in reference to the Immigration Reform Act of 65 ?
>"The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs,”< Sen. Teddy Kennedy :2rofll:

That was the first lie. Then we were lied too again in 1986 and Congress snuck through seven more amnesties and lied every time.

Awwww poor guy. That is awesome news. Hopefully Mexicans will treat your grandkids better than you treated them.

Interesting, you call them Mexicans instead of Americans. That says a lot about you.

But then again you might be right, these Americans might look at themselves as being more Mexican than American.

Let's call it what it is. You don't like Mexicans, just be honest.

If your referring to Mexican nationals, I have no problem with them but I'm no fan of their culture.

I think I'll have tacos for dinner tonight. Of course they will be TexMex tacos.

Silly comparison. Barely worth responding to.

And yet here you are, responding to it. You dismiss the comparison only because you cannot answer it. Look, there are some who, like you, are willing to [allow others to] shoulder the burden caused by illegals. Thankfully it's nowhere close to a majority.

Now, still waiting to hear about any other industrialized country that has open borders as you suggest. I'm curious to see how it's working out for them though I doubt you can provide an example.

Who said anything about open borders? That comparison is silly because no one individual shoulders the burden of all immigrants. This is where immigration has benefited us. Famous American Immigrants | Immigration Update

Except for scale, it is a precise comparison. Are you saying that you don't want to let strangers into your home and support them? Surely not!

Precise is very generous. Could you imagine if Nikola Tesla wasn't allowed in?

Easily. Tesla is highly over-rated in the popular imagination, he of the earthquake machine and the death ray.

Besides I have no objection to allowing in immigrants who are valuable to our country. I merely wish to keep out those who have little value to us, and quite naturally, severely punish illegal invaders.

He invented AC. GE was practically founded on AC. We not be the superpower we are had he invented it in Russia.

Many good electrical engineers would have developed, (not invented,) alternating current. It was an obvious evolution. (I work in electrical generation these days, by the way.)

IMO, that doesn't give credibility in saying it was an obvious advancement. Still, my point remains uncontested.
