i wanna talk about homelessness

I think it should go to the renter. Helps preserve the normal financial flow and therefore the ability to move. Better market competition.
That's a good reason for it to go to the renter that I hadn't thought of.

i remember one time i saw the police raiding a homeless camp and telling them to go.
i heard people watching saying "the homeless are wasting our tax payer dollars"
no your the ones wasting tax payer dollars by calling the cops on the homeless.
they arent doing anything wrong your making the cops come out and waste tax payer dollars.

The idea that this would happen in any meaningful quantity is ludicrous. Someone who is months behind on rent is thousands and thousands of dollars in debt. They're gonna pay the rent unless something is life or death.
That's your opinion. The money should go directly to whom the money is owed. That's my opinion.

these people who say that they dont wanna pay taxes and they call everything a handout
isnt wanting to not pay taxes wanting a handout?
how do they think that teachers get paid? taxes
how do you think that the fire department puts out fires? taxes
they somehow want the fire department to put out fires for free
without paying taxes wheres the money gonna come from?
the libertarians who want no taxes.

Is this a thread about the eviction moratorium or some general polemic against a smorgasbord of issues? You're kind of all over the place. I don't think anyone on this thread has said we should not have taxes or that taxes aren't important for funding fire departments.

If you break a window at a bank they call it an act of violence.
If you have a cop destroy a homeless man's tent they call it justice.

i just dont think it should be a conversation of "you cant pay therefore you must not work"
it says right here on this statistic that the unemployment rate is 5.4 percent
so why are republicans saying that no ones working?

if you wanna talk about taxes smokers pay taxes
very huge taxes and it goes to many different things
and they get even worse treatment by insurance companys
because they dont wanna pay for anything if the person smokes.

you know alot of people couldnt even get unemployment
i hear republicans saying "they get 5000 a month on unemployment"
whos getting that? they are so out of touch they are getting 300 max.
they complain about unemployment when alot of people couldnt even
get unemployment when they lost their job.
calling unemployment for months and no one answering
that happend in florida these people are owed money
and couldnt get it.

they complain about people getting unemployment and they
complain about the stimulus but whats wrong with the stimulus?
thats just you getting your tax money back
why is anyone against the stimulus you paid taxes
when people are losing businesses they should get a stimulus.

For a period, you actually could get around $5k/month, but only in states with the higher unemployment caps.

Minnesota's cap is $740/week, and the feds were kicking in $600/week on top of that so $1340/week. Some taxes taken out. Meets the threshold.

Meanwhile, in shitty places like Georgia with a cap of like $230/week, the feds only bring it up to $830/week.

Well, I'm a landlord so I don't need to read press to know how it is. (Fortunately I am the flexible and benevolent kind that does not want families living in the street.) Let's be real, you are just venting randomly and not actually posting any constructive, sustainable suggestions, so why don't you start there? Here's mine - don't allow evictions until COVID is more firmly in the rear view mirror, but with an expiration date so it's not indefinite, but direct federal funds to the landlords (who are the ones paying those taxes, btw) so they are not the only group left holding the bag as is currently the case. What's your suggestion beyond a vague "families in the street is BAD!!!" ?
Correct me if I am wrong but I keep hearing that SOME states haven't even distributed the funds in a timely manner or even at ALL in some cases.
Am I misinformed on this?

So... precognition?

We should have directed rent assistance funds to landlords, not tenants. Making it a tenant 'opt-in' program was flawed from the very beginning.
there was direct assistance to the landlords...many of those landlords refused to accept it...and instead have opted for evictions.

Who said they weren't having a tough time?

Who on this thread said this? Could you quote the relevant post?

All I know is that something is currently whack about our economy. Stores here and elsewhere are restricting working hours because they can't hire people, yet apparently there are millions who will be thrown in the street if we don't keep paying their rent. Meanwhile we're absolutely dealing with heightened inflation, the logical outcome of the prior three administrations' monetary policies, and this is affecting home prices and average rental rates. I don't know what the cause of all this is, I only have a gut feel that a hard crash is coming.
I think what is really up is that rent has far increased beyond the market value and beyond the local pay scales....for instance in Florida....especially South Fl.....rent runs around 1500 to 2000 for a 1 bedroom...yeah, a 1 bedroom...and 2500 for a 2 bedroom and these are apartments, not houses....yet, minimum wage is $8....something is very wrong with that picture....and most jobs are less than full time to avoid paying insurance and benefits....even at the professional level.

when people are evicted its one thing but applauding people getting evicted is another.
i dont hate land lords im just saying its sick how people are openly applauding
how people will be evicted and they are cheering about it online.

So... precognition?
Nope. Life. Don't get me wrong, I'd love everyone to be on assistance if they want to, until the end of time. I'd also like to live for 300 years and travel to Saturn. Unfortunately in the real world, people don't get infinitely long runways. They get help from others in fits and spurts until they escape their situation, or until the [finite] help runs out and their situation does them in.

those jobs dont wanna hire people wal mart closes at 11 pm now so they can make more money
thats less hours for employees and its only gonna get worse as robots
take over the jobs.

when did i degrade land lords? standing up for tenants is degrading land lords?
im just saying that when i see people online applauding how people will be evicted
saying "yea thats what he gets for being a unemployed scumbag" this isnt right.
alot of people are working and trying their best that statistic i showed you
the unemployment rate is only 5.4 percent thats pretty good.
and yea if the government pays the land lord directly sure im fine with that
i just dont want people in the streets.

well the republicans are so conservative they dont wanna spend a cent
they dont wanna build affordable housing or homeless shelters
im not saying make the eviction moratorium forever im just saying
its a good thing

90% of the homeless suffer from alcohol and drug addiction. A few are mentally ill and they tend to abuse drugs too.

The law says we can't lock these people up to treat them.

.

no offense but why do centrists sound like republicans? im not sure what side people are on anymore

thats not true what about the people who are homeless that arent related to drugs?
if we just look at every homeless person as a drug addict thats not right.
some of them are good people.

Why do you type like your writing a poem?
