I have been treated with respect by all law enforcement officers I met.

how many times have you been arrested? or is just say the cop at your school?

He mouthed off because the SRO officer wouldn't let him leave campus to go to McDonald's.

He strikes me more as a burger king sort of poster

This is a discussion forum bud. Not twitter. If you're gonna start a thread at least attempt to say something substantive please.

Apology not accepted.

So have I. That tends to happen to law abiding citizens. It makes me wonder about those people who hate the cops.

Trying being a law abiding male of teen age with less that pearly white complexion, then you'll understand.

That was a retarded assumption. I'm American Indian.

why would such a citizen have any dealings with cops.

Then, like me, you don't look like one and you don't have any observable, audible, or other indications that would have it a issue. Mine is a Latina heritage I didn't even know about as one of my grandfathers basically never set foot in the US since the mid-1950s, he was Nicaraguan. But, I got an upper white middle class education, don't look particularly Latin, the Armenian from the other grandfather is definitely stronger.... perhaps, pearly white was a bit of an exaggeration. My point however is valid.

Seems that's a question for the cops to answer. I ask it often when I read the statistics about such things.

No it isn't. Your assumptions are racist and offensive.

One month....92 posts....and you're gone already?
I'm guessing the mods did not accept your apology.

No,the way the young non-white men and boys are treated in this country by the police is racist and offensive. If you don't see it, then it's because you choose ignorance. Bless your heart.

Let me give you an example. When I was 16 I had a real POS car. The song, "My Hoopty" By Sir Mix-A-Lot doesn't even begin to cover it. So I like to hot rod it (as much as a '78 Plymouth Volare could be hot rodded ;) ) around. I once got pulled over doing about 75 in a 20, but the cop (MP, technically) didn't have radar, so he wrote me three tickets: One for only one windshield wiper, one for a busted taillight, and one for some other equipment related offense. I deserved all three of those tickets and the speeding ticket I didn't get.

But not being satisfied, they had to take things to the next level. They had me follow them back to the MP station where they called my dad. They then explained the situation and told me dad that they were going to write me up for the three equipment violations and "whatever else [they] could think up." BIG mistake. My dad demanded to speak to a supervisor and then proceeded to rip them a new one. Maybe even two. Hell, three. I mean he let them have it. They immediately released me and we took care of the equipment violations and paid no fine.

However, after that I was a marked man. I couldn't go anywhere without getting harassed for little or no reason. I got pulled over once for a broken license plate light. It took three cop cars and over an hour to do so. If I went off post, I would be hassled when I came back on post. They would pull me over and call my dad and make him come down to get me, where he would repeat the same ass chewing from before, and the cycle would just never end.

Basically, I was being hassled because these MPs (can't spell wimp without MP, right?) had an acute case of LDS and they got all butt hurt when my dad didn't cower in fear when they threatened to invent charges to bring against me. If they had simply written the tickets I deserved and let me go, it would have been a done deal. Instead of some limp **** MP getting his ass chewed, I would have gotten mine chewed instead. As it turned out, I didn't even get a short lecture about speeding.

Not every cop is like these douchebags, but one thing is for certain: attitude reflects leadership. If the people under whom a cop serves abuses their power, they will abuse their power as well. It tends to be systemic, so that an entire department get an extremely bad reputation until things finally blow up and heads start to roll. But that's usually years after the damage has been done.

That's just an example of why some people hate, or at the very least, distrust cops. For the record, the Air Force SPs were even worse.
