Hydroxycut

Green tea pills do wonders for me. They simply kill my appetite. I take them for a short while and then my portions tend to be tiny and grow over time (because I have horrible will power when it comes to food, something I have never been able to overcome), so I do it again every three months or so.

I bought some green tea caps a few months ago, but started reading about them, and it appears that they can increase metabolism, which is desirable for some people, but my thyroid already tends toward the hyper- state, so I decided against trying it for now. It is supposed to be a really good supplement to take for overall health.

I am not sure the metabolic effect amounts to anything. It just seems a good appetite suppressant which is what I personally need. I am a damn pig and its not something I am able to control despite years of trying. Luckily I am 6'4" and wide framed so I can hide it well, but I tend to weigh more than i should.

unfortunately, for me, will power ain't enough in this one aspect of my life (I tend to overpower everything in life through blunt force of will, but not this one achilles heal).

Thing is, just lay off after a while so my body doesn't get used to it and negate it.

I started to buy a bottle one time, I looked at the ingredient list, it looked to me that the primary active ingredient is caffeune along with some other stuff which isn't particularly effective and would be cheaper to purchase seperately. To me, although I have spent quite a bit of money on supplements, it isn't worth $28 a bottle just for caffeine. You can get that from coffee (which is now being promoted as actually being good for you due to the fact that it is filled with antioxidents), or you can purchase pure caffeine for less than $15/lb (there's like a zillion doses in a lb of it).

It used to contain ephedra (chemically almost identical to ephedrine), and that worked well, but ephedrine products can no longer be sold for the purpose of weight loss - probably because they actually work.

Regardless, I agree that there is no magic weight loss pill.

I'm not really sure, but I think that speed (something like it) used to be prescribed by doctors for weight loss. Of course, it worked, because dosing on it kept people up all night cleaning their garages and kitchen cabinets, up all the next day roofing the house, yada yada. IOW, expending calories like a mad person.

I'm not sure about that being the reason it was so effective. Trouble was, it was also highly addictive.

My appetite is perhaps my greatest obstacle. I can eat right and everything, but sooner or later I'll be hungry, and I yield to it.

Thats exactly why I like stimulants, I accomplish more when taking them, and don't really mind work.

If the "good ones" weren't addictive, it'd be A-OK by me as well!

Eat before you get hungry.

I eat something about every two hours, whether I am hungry or not.

A lot of people claim that it isn't meals that make you fat, it's the snacking between the meals. that's not true - it's the meals. If you snack all day with healthy snacks, you will never get hungry, and thus you will never overeat. When you eat more at one time than you need for energy, you store the excess calories.

The only healthy way to lose weight is proper diet and exercise. Everything else usually just causes side effects that aren't worth it.

Two of the most hated words in the pharmaceutical industry. Not one person regardless of their background can say to anyone, "diet and exercise will not cause weight loss".
Myself my stationary bike is my ticket. When I started after a few weeks of getting my metabolism higher I would get back on it a couple hours after I was done because my energy level was so high. Foumula: X calories in take versus X calories output ie., eat 1,000, burn 1,100 YOU WILL OSE WEIGHT.

"Eat something" fine but not every two hours and you have to specify how much. The best rule is every four hours, eat healthy and just enough like equal to one half of one sandwich or a light snack. Nuts unsalted, roasted or raw but not just any nut. Walnuts, almonds or pumpkin seeds are excellent for you fiber and 1/4 cup of one should hold you over. Raw fruit like a piece of cantaloupe or a mango loaded with vitamin C.

I was looking for a supplement to help me lose some weight...not a magic pill, mind you, just an edge. A buddy recommended Hydroxycut, so I bought a bottle and started using it according to the directions for the last week.

That vial snake oil had me sleeping on my feet, barely able to work let alone energy to work out, with headaches every day when I get out of bed. The bottle's in the trash now, not even half used.

Never again.

Look up "foods that cause weight loss" and get off the pill syndrome. Remember this, when you need to bed to get rest you have to exercise (walk) to get there.

I'm certainly not a nutrition expert, but two hours has worked very well for me. Eating every four hours is pretty close to a normal meal schedual, so that wouldn't be a big variation from what most Americans already do, and most Americans are at least slightly overweight.

But yes, you do make a good point about what and what quantity. I usually eat a raw fruit, or a serving of veggies (like a full size cellory stick, oatmeal, or a glass of V-8), or a protein snack (protein bar, protein shake, beef jerky, or a palm full of nuts) every two hours, typically alternating between the types of snacks.

I think it dehydrates you.

I have no pill syndrome. Didn't I say I wasn't looking for a cure-all, that I only tried it? I have a handle on my diet and exorcise, thank you. Just because someone tries something for 4-5 days and doesn't like it, does not mean they have a syndrome.

I can tell you a diet that always works. Cut out sweets and carbs and increase veggies, fruits and protein. Not too much fruit, because it's actually fattening.

Water, lots of water, keeps you're appetite in check.

If someone says they're trying to lose weight, and within the last week they've drank a soda, eaten candy, had a doughnut, had a hamburger or any other fat making food, or haven't strength trained at least twice within the last week, they arn't really trying.

Yeah I don't think if I have a piece of cake at my son's birthday party that I'm therefore not trying to keep my health in order. That's some bull****.

If you're trying to lose weight, then don't eat cake, don't eat candy, don't eat fast Food, don't drink soda, and drink a lot of water, eat vegetables and lean protein, and Train a couple times a week.

have a cake at you're sons birthday party, but if you're going to make excuses to eat candy every now and tehn, have a a bag of chips, get a big mak on the way home, have a little Cocacola on a hot day, maybe skip training because you're tired, then good Luck to you, it's not gonna work out.

I see it so often People say they are trying to get in shape, but arn't willing to just stop eating candy, fast Food, chips, soda or whatever.

Ok but this thread isn't about diet and exorcise anyway.

Lol, cuts are only made in the kitchen. I suggest not buying any supplements and take that saved investment to the grocery store. Just eat healthy. A salad after dinner better helps digestion. A cup of coffee before the gym is ok for energy

A salad before dinner may help you eat less crap at dinner. So there we have it, two salads for dinner and we will lose weight.

That couldn't be more wrong. Starving the body is only going to slow your metabolism. Eating less but with greater frequency will increase the rate of metabolism. Four smaller meals is ideal in most cases. Everyone has different nutritional requirements but taking supplements is never ideal. Hydroxycut is a scam. Diet pills suppress appetite and may cause initial weight loss, but does long-term damage.

I didn't suggest starving your body, just eating a salad for dinner.

I frequently have salads for dinner, usually one of those "cob salads" from Chick Filet". I wouldn't call that starving yourself, salads do have calories, and the one that I eat contains chicken also. I think it's around 600 calories.

I'm also the guy who suggested (in an earlier post) eating something every two hours to avoid slowing your metabolism, and I suggesting a first thing in the morning workout because exercise increases your metabolism up for the remainder of the day.

I've lost nearly 60lbs of fat during the past two years, while actually gaining about ten lbs of muscle mass - or at least that is what my body composition scales indicate. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I know what worked well for me, your results may differ.

Let me throw this at you, this is the greatest obstacle I face in weight loss: I have to take Levothyroxine every day. According to the directions, I can't eat for 2 hours prior or one hour after I take the medication. My doctor wants me to take it as soon as I get out of bed, which is fine, but an hour after I get out of bed, and take this medication, I'm at work, and can't eat on the job. I usually wait until my first brake to have my first meal of the day.

I've tried waking up earlier but that cuts into sleep and before to long the alarm can't wake me up.

What should I do here?

Salads are for rabbits. I honestly don't see how people can eat that tasteless crap. In fact I think salads are to blame for many diet failures. I need to be able to look forward to my food, to taste it, to enjoy it, or sad fact is I just won't buy it. Better would be to just eat some old military ration bar and a vitamin if you're going to eat salads, just to get it over with.
