Democrats are showing lack of professionalism and protesting a speech that hasn't even been given yet. You don't have a problem with that because you want to believe rhetoric and ignore reality

Because whatever Trump says is very predictable. Whatever speech he gives, we already know it's crap.

I'm not a professional, I'm a citizen and a voter, and I do not feel that I NEED to wait for a speech to be given in order to determine what I've already discovered about Donald Trump, namely, that he is bat **** insane. He has already given more than enough speeches to confirm my opinion, at least for me.

And like I just said in my original response, I DO INTEND to listen to his speech, and READ IT, every single word, in great detail.

Just not at the scheduled AIRTIME, and the reason for that is bone simple: I do not intend to give President Trump the ratings he so desires, by watching it as it airs.
I can and will wait till AFTER the airtime to watch and listen to it later.

It has nothing to do with what you term "rhetoric".
And it has nothing to do with protest either, it has to do with refusing to show support for ideas which are anathema to core concepts of democracy.

But don't worry, Conservative...I am sure Donald Trump will inflate the ratings anyway, and if the ARBITRON numbers don't match his inflated figures, he will ATTACK ARBITRON and label them an "enemy of the American people", and I have NO DOUBT THAT YOU sir, will be right here at Debate Politics, echoing his assertions about how ARBITRON and other airtime ratings outfits are lying to us.

Once again, key words here, study them carefully: not at the scheduled AIRTIME.
That is the entirety of the Democratic boycott of President Trump's "State of the Union" speech...not at the scheduled airtime.

Anything else that you attribute to that boycott is all in your head.

And you aren't a paid Representative either. No question the results will be recognized in spite of the leftwing rhetoric

It isn't partisanship. It's stupidity. The Liberals are still butt hurt because the unwashed masses dared vote against them

Liberal arrogance and holier than thou attitude is relegating them to the trash heap of history. The silent majority is sick and tired of their bull****, lies, distortions, and creating more dependence

Thankfully, they can't understand that the regular folks are tired of the Libbos looking down their noses at us.

(Insults to follow)

More interested in driving a bus to UTOPIA than they are in either operating with morality or doing good work.....we saw this with the building of the EU, Extremely shoddy work and lies because everyone was in a hurry to get somewhere.....long term that does not work.

I've listened to State of the Union addresses almost consistently throughout my adult life. I have taken a few breaks....skipped a couple of Reagan, and a couple of GWB. Just not interested in hearing BS spoken at an elementary level.

I think there are a few qualifications necessary to demand the attention and respect of the American people...truthfulness and an ability to articulate ideas are paramount.

Trump fails to deliver on either, besides he is painfully difficult to listen to..what an awful voice, and a 4th grade vocabulary
Trump Speaks At Fourth-Grade Level, Lowest Of Last 15 U.S. Presidents, New Analysis Finds

Also worth noting Ted Cruz very publicly boycotted last year's State of the Union. Along with Supreme Court justices Thomas, Alito and Scalia (who had boycotted many before)

And you aren't a paid Representative either. No question the results will be recognized in spite of the leftwing rhetoric

Antonin Scalia, who died in 2016, had missed the State of the Union address more than a dozen times, and called the event “a childish spectacle."
"I'm sure it had nothing to do with his hatred for Obama"...said NO ONE EVER.

Republicans love standards. They love them so much that they have TWO of them.

Tell ya what, Conservative...do you have a PayPal account?
I will send you TEN DOLLARS if ANY Democrat senator or congressman who DOES attend the SOTU yells out "YOU LIE!" during Trump's speech.

Wonder how many NeverTrumpers would be outraged if Trump simply doesn't show up but instead sends a letter. Bet they'd spin it negatively in some way or other.

Got it, you don't have a problem with the childish behavior of elected officials.

OOHH, I would love it if he would just send a letter...does he have to write it himself? Maybe he could just do it on twitter? How would that be?

Let's see a positive spin here so no one is offended: The President has sent a letter stating the state of the union is the most amazing ever, there has never been a state of the union better, and this letter will show that to all the haters and lying media that the state of the union is the best and most amazing it has ever been...We will build a f**king wall and keep out all the ****heads from the ****holes and my people will love me and I could shoot someone in the street and that will not change...your leader and ****patroller DJT.

Got it, you don't have a problem with the childish behavior of elected officials.

What part of my last response would indicate that I DON'T have a problem, esp when considering I said I'd PAY YOU if someone from MY side did something stupid, like YOUR buddy Joe Walsh did one year when Obama was speaking?

Which part? Be specific, please.

It's amazing how squirrely and all over the road you get when someone corners you with a strict moral code and some facts.

What part of paid representation don't you understand? Scalia wasn't an elected official? Justify a paid Congressional Representative NOT attending the STATE OF THE UNION. Cornered? LOL, you live in that alternate universe the left has created. I am not cornered but rather am calling it like I see it, a childish prank on the part of leftwing radicals who continue to throw a temper tantrum to fire up their robot base and continue to promote hatred of this President.

But you were okay with it when Republicans boycotted SOTU speeches by a Democratic president.
So like I said, you love standards, so much so that you have two of them.

When did Republicans BOYCOTT the SOU under Obama? If they did I would have condemned it as well. Childish behavior on the part of either party is unacceptable to me

if i recall correctly it was immediately condemned

and the south carolina representative who yelled it apologized for his action

Yes even though it was true.

OMG, are you reading a different thread on a different forum or did Chinese mafia take your brain while you were sleeping?
Seriously, this was already covered.
See "Ted Cruz".
I even mentioned CHILDISH behavior on TOP of the boycotts, which I do not specifically condemn.

My entire point is, if Republicans do it, you're okay with it...just don't whine when Democrats do it too.
Joe Walsh screaming out "YOU LIE!!" is childish, however.

The thing is, NONE of the Democrats are going to IGNORE Trump's SOTU speech.
I assure you, we will listen to and ready EVERY WORD.
Just not at the scheduled airtime.

Once again, there is a reason for that.
Trump wants to crow about having "the highest ratings for a State of the Union speech in history."

Size matters to Donald, A LOT. You could say he's almost a size queen, he is obsessed with the size of everything. So Democratic Party PEOPLE, and possibly a handful of representatives, are going to DENY him his "size ratings", but I assure, every aspect of his speech will be analyzed.

So in essence, your complaint, for all practical purposes, boils down to a complaint about Democrats refusing to play Trump's game.

And as far as PAID Congressional members refusing to attend, see "Republicans under Obama". It happened, you just don't remember, you have selective amnesia, which is typical.

Apparently reading and understanding English isn't your strong suit. I don't condone any ELECTED official missing the SOU speech especially when it is done for the reasons the left is saying, simple hatred of Trump and the belief he is despicable.

He is despicable.
He behaves despicably toward Democrats, toward liberals in general.
He does despicable things, he says despicable things (which you conservatives LOVE!) and he tells a despicable number of lies (over 2000 to date at last count).

Yet his results speak volumes and are positive for the American people and their pocket book. You want to get rid of Trump, do so at the ballot box by getting rid of the radicals in your party and running a pro growth, pro private sector candidate with leadership skills to generate results. You don't like Trump, so what, neither do I and i have a lot of despicable bosses over my career, outliving all of them, passing them on their way down but never trying to destroy them personally like you are trying to do with Trump.

The American people are going to vote their pocketbooks and right now it looks like a GOP Sweep this fall. What do you have against the American people doing better financially?
