And House Speaker Nancy Pelosi,... said earlier this month that "a wall, in my view, is an immorality" and "the least effective way to protect the border and the most costly."
But Hoyer, pressed by Baier, distanced himself from those comments.
He added: "A wall is -- that protects people is not immoral.
Border Patrol officials have also said that walls are effective. ("We certainly do need a wall. Talk to any border agent and they will tell you that," Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost said on Fox News' "Your World" last month.)
Hoyer suggested that Democrats were willing to compromise with the White House to end the shutdown, the longest in the nation's history.

Thanks Steny.
Walls work... even Communists, who failed at everything, had an almost perfectly functioning wall.
Walls are moral. They protect the citizens. That’s job#1 for the President. He swears an oath to do so.
Please, do tell me what ended up happening to the Berlin Wall and its great success. I'll wait. Thanks Steny.

My wife and her parents lived behind the Soviet wall. Believe me, while it was active, it worked.
My point is that what it did is not something we should be emulating here in the U.S. If the argument for a wall is "it worked when the Soviets did it!" then we should probably take a step back and ask what exactly we are doing. My wife and her parents lived behind the Soviet wall. You missed my point, but I was a bit opaque about what I was getting at so can't blame you.Ignorant of history or accurate thinking?
The wall worked... what failed was the Socialist Utopia.
Or, in other words, the wall worked perfectly and was not the reason for the spectacular failures of Socialism/Communism.
Now tell me, where has Socialism worked? Ever?

Nancy: "God DAMMIT, Hoyer!! You aren't helping one bit!!"
The Berlin wall imprisoned people. To enter the confinement of the Berlin wall, all you had to do is go to one of its entry points and swear allegiance to Communism - and you were granted entry.
Nobody was ever allowed to leave.
By golly, man! Don't you even know history?!?
I hope Hoyer doesn't find a horse's head in his bed anytime soon.
They also seem to forget the Berlin wall was a double-wall system with a kill zone in between. The constant comparisons are hilariously bad.
Actually the wall did not work and you would know that had you ever read something beside talking points. Do you have any clue how long was the Berlin wall and how many guard towers and what else was used to prevent escape? Educate yourself a bit before making your usual moronic assertions. The wall worked...
It worked... Israel’s works...
Walls work. Steny even admitted it.

That's my point. The Berlin wall separated families and tore people apart. Call that a "success" if you want, but I call that an atrocity. And was it really the wall that kept people in, or the fact that anyone who tried to get over it was run down with machine guns? Something tells me that had more to do with it.The Berlin wall imprisoned people. Maybe it was the kill zone that kept people out more so than the wall...I know ... I saw the kill zone outside of Berlin ... before and after. One of my brothers was in Berlin on Nov 9, 1989 - he sent me a piece of the wall.
The uneducated liberals show their ignorance on a daily basis ...
