How to fix the "gun crisis"

We have become a disdained cesspool under Trump. Under Ronnie, for example, the world revered us.

TDS and gun banners go hand and hand. It has nothing to do with crime control-the OP is mad gun owners helped elect Trump and he wants revenge

I'm not going to spare you the scary looking rant. That's what most gun laws are all about. 90% of the currently available civilian weapons function exactly like the Ruger 10/22. That is, a semi auto magazine fed rifle. Add 2 or more of the following: Collapsible or thumb hole stock, bayonet mount, flash hider, barrel shroud. Bingo!! that 10/22 is now a weapon of war.

Take those off what is laughingly called an assault weapon. Add a walnut stock and a scope. Now it's a hunting rifle.

When will it sink in that it does NOT matter what reason is acceptable to you as long as you are the minority?

You're lying. Most Americans don't agree with that lie of yours.
I pointed that out and he said essentially anybody that doesn't agree with him is a dolt.

Impeccable logic isn't it?

And the people who want to ban guns are the very reason why the second amendment is more important today than it was 200 years ago
no because Europe... Haven't you heard their accents? That means they are more intelligent.

Well, there is no "proper and fitting definition" of a "weapon of war". It's a dumb term used by ignorant people.

But let's say you get your wish, and the "technical experts" do the impossible and come up with a list. It won't be long before a gun that isn't on the list is used in a crime, and then as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow, the rotten political left will be calling for even more restrictions to close the "non-weapon of war loophole".

It's a big mistake to give the left even one inch.

It must be terrible to spend your whole life living at the intersection of Slipper Slope Street and Paranoia Place.

You litterally have no clue what you are talking about.

BTW, start reading. Immigration is down.

You must be young and Trumpish. You knew nothing in this short exchange and theses are things most folks know.

why don't you stop your stupid charade and admit what we all can see. You hate Trump, you are angry he won, and you are pissed off that pro gun voters helped elect him. You don't give a damn about crime, you want to ban guns to harass people who you blame for your Perma-TDS issues.

You will never raise yourself up with this attitude.

peace and good night.

If by raising myself up I must think anybody who doesn't agree with my emotional hysteria are dolts... Good. I never want to be elevated to such a poor level of intelligent.

It just takes time and the will.

It will take an effort because it involves changing a culture for many. This is why much of what I am about to say needs to be grandfathered in and will take a generation before we see a major change from these slaughters.

First off, it can't be left up to the states. As we know, no gun zones do nothing because you can cross a street and get a gun.

1) Universal background checks.

2) a ban on semi automatic weapons.

3) universal gun registration

4) a limit on guns owned to one rifle, one hand gun and one shotgun. (grandfathered in)

5) sever limits on magazines.

6) limits on caliber.

7) gun licenses (age 21, permit at age 18. No more kids shooting guns with dad)

BTW, it was Parkland that made me pro gun regulation. The posts from the right after that were awful, just immoral.

As a gun owner, avid hunter and believer in protecting the home, 4, 6, 7 would be no's for me.
#4. 1 rifle, 1 pistol, 1 shotgun, infringes on my right to collect and own a variety of hunting weapons. For instance shotguns, pumps, automatics, guns for a variety of bird hunting. Pistols for concealed carry, smaller for this purpose, home defense not so. Rifles, deer hunting, and out west predator hunts, like wolves or coyotes. I'm a citizen and never committed a crime. Why should I be restricted so harshly.
#6, basically the same, different caliber for different types of game. Different sizes for women, for young adults who are learning to hunt and learning firearm safety.
#7, Why would you stop kids from hunting with dad, it's how so many learn firearm safety.
The others I open to negotiation.
As for Parkland, there were rules and precautions in place but the people who were supposed to enforce those dropped the ball and then all ran to cover up their mistakes.

you think a ban on semi autos is open for negotiation? wow

I have said many times I am a never Trumper and a republican. I was not angry at all that he won. I was cautiously optimistic. I had even supported him until he "never grew up" as I expected he would.

I am not fearful of crime and I have been exposed to much more of it than you ever have.

Hope this helps.

This is why the left cannot get anything done, failure to communicate. In a country where there are two parties running things, it is seldom you get it exactly your way. Oh sure every once in a while, like Obamacare but you see what a mess that turned out. Now even the democrat candidates are trying to bury ACA.

Your credibility would have been better if you said you hated Trump. I spent 30 years as a prosecutor. I have seen all sorts of crime.

I'm in the minority of what?

The slippery slope isn't a fallacy if you have evidence to support a high probability of sliding down the slope and off the roof - and we do. Thousands of gun laws at the local, state, and federal level, yet it's never enough. Pass another law and as soon as some white guy shoots someone (he has to be white, otherwise gun violence is fine) the left calls for more "common sense" gun control.

There are thousands of traffic laws. If they keep this up they will ban all cars.....oh....wait

You let fears and paranoia freeze us into doing nothing.

Without a firearm, how is a 110lb woman going to defend herself against a 200lb male attacker?
What makes you think a firearm is the only way a woman can protect herself from a man? You think a woman can’t be capable of fighting off an attacker? That there aren’t other effective tools she can utilize? We aren’t in the age of “Father knows best” or “Gidget” anymore, so stop trying to portray women as weak and defenseless.

Derrr that's why I said exactly that.
Deer, I know, I said it before you.
A fire arm can be a weapon of self defense.
Duh? Self defense and the defense of others is the reason law abiding citizens carry firearms.
Forbidding a demographic from using it simply limits their options.
Girls, ages 15 - 18, are also frequent victims of assault/rape. By your reckoning, they should also be permitted to carry a firearm, right? What about boys too? They are also assaulted. Shouldn’t 15 year old boys be able to carry firearms? Heck, boys and girls even younger than 15 years old are victimized. Why shouldn’t any kid be allowed to carry a firearm for personal protection? After all, you don’t want to limit children’s options of self defense, right?

The point is, there is no best age to allow people to carry firearms. Some young folks who’ve been properly taught how handle and safeguard a firearm might be mature/responsible enough to be permitted to carry at 18, while others may not be mature/responsible enough to carry until they’re 25 years old. You happen to think 18 is the right age and I think 21 is more appropriate. Neither opinion is necessarily better than the other.
Is the point you are making that stupid laws are stupid?
Nope. Just noting an existing federal law that is applicable to our discussion.

You think a woman can’t be capable of fighting off an attacker?

If he outweighs her by 50 to 100 pounds, no, she hasn't got a chance without a firearm.

That there aren’t other effective tools she can utilize?

Like what?

It never ceases to amaze me how rotten leftists would rather see a woman dead in the street than to allow her to carry a gun.

Bull****. Pure ignorance.

Never ceases to amaze how rotten, brainwashed right wingers quickly move every conversation to political affiliation.
