How Serious Is This? Consider What The FBI Would Do To Us

What could Trump’s motives be for taking boxes of top security documents to his attic and then lying to the government when asked to return them?

Knowing the kind of stable genius Trump is, his motives could be any wide number of things. His motive could just have been that he thought it would be a really cool conversation piece and to show off to his friends at parties and golf tournaments. Whatever it takes to wow the crowd and draw attention to himself.

The documents in his attic were marked top security. You think that’s OK and just overhyped by MSM- and it should just be blown off and no further investigation is necessary?

I'm asking how does he know they were nuclear codes or asset information. Your attempt at deflection doesn't change that.

We don't know for sure yet. That is what is being reported by people familiar with the investigation. I am sure we will learn soon enough. Do you think you should be getting updated all the details of an active investigation as it's going on?

It's not like he hasn't established a pattern of speaking without thinking of the consequences....

First, to the Russian in the first of its kind meeting in the Oval Office.

Maybe the chocolate cake was that good.

Just trying to make a journalists job a bit easier.

I know it's hard to believe that a former president that attempted a violent coup against The United States of American would do anything else wrong because he is still really mad about losing an election./s

Um, reading your own source, it says the FBI are looking for secret documents about nuclear weapons, not that they found any. It's much diffrent than claiming Trump has nuclear codes, does it not?

Yes, true. Are you saying then that the raid should not have been done?

It's not so much a raid was done, but rather claiming what was found during the raid when it was never mentioned.

OK sure. Bad claims. Whatever makes you feel better about poor persecuted Donald. I guess we will see.

But I you’re not going to believe what Trump’s top people are finding on Obama’s secret birth certificate though. Oh boy can’t wait!

One it was not the FBI that killed Hampton.

I stand corrected on that. I thought it was an FBI raid.

Two it has nothing to do with TS information and three finding very rare cases and then pretending that is the norm is extremely dishonest.

Of course it's rare. How often do every day people steal top secret documents?

Speaking of dishonesty trying to compare Justin King to the founding founders or MLK is pretty ridiculous.

Justin King? Huh?

Oh, this guy? https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...black-man-fatally-shot-white-neighb-rcna11957

Where did this argument come from?

It’s not one incident of lying. His whole made up persona is a lie and he continues to lie about his post. But you defend him because he says things you agree with.

How sad.

You haven't actually detailed his 'lies'. Post? What post? What are you even talking about?

I'm sure some are not much for facts, as inconvenient as they might be. Or perhaps factually correct, but morally wrong.

Was the FBI scared of the Secret Service?.....was this the reason of being so heavily armed?.....or do they think Trump is Rambo?......rofl

FBI is allowed to make arrests and secure the location, being armed is a part of it. Also, the nuts drove over as soon as they heard their leader was in trouble.

Are you always this obtuse? The Secret Service were notified before they got there. Jan 6 was supposed to be peaceful too, look at what your fellow cult members did there.

No leaks, huh? Hillarys confidential emails were on Anthony Weiners laptop, who had no security clearance to have them.

Strange Trump’s DOJ and DOS didn’t charge Hillary?

Can you show me any American that was killed or tortured for stealing TS documents.

So you think his real name is beau of the goth column.

I am sorry but this just seems like one more thing you are talking out your ass on.

Here is an idea. Stop talking about things you really have no idea about. Just makes you look foolish.

We'll never know......they would not allow anyone else in during the search. Does that time span make you think of 'guilt'?......then their tactics worked.

Bullshit.

Trump watch on camera and his lawyer was present and signed off of everything that left the premesis.

Jesus....just stop.

To late to correct the autocorrect error. It’s Beau of the 5th column. Not sure why it corrected to goth.

That's still under investigation to assess which it was.

Sure - more information can come out, and we can learn new things . Based on what we currently know, however, it seems self-evident that Trump lawfully took documents and lawfully stored them, but unlawfully retained them after he was directed to return them to the government.

But even if just wrong, why are you here so passionately defending something so dangerously wrong?

The contrary, I'm not being passionate here. I'm being precise. This is an area where, because it involves accusations and investigations against a former president, we need to be very careful about what we say and do. Diving off into the fetid pools of the most dramatic and horrid option available has not aided Trump's opponents in the past. On the contrary, by raising the bar of malfeasance to a higher standard by accusing him of worst crime, Trump's attackers have allowed Trump's defenders to dance on his ability to walk under higher bars.

Yes, it is. US intelligence is still trying to assess the extent of the damage. It looks pretty bad. Lots of questions on how Trump was able to access and just walk off with all this stuff, why he wanted it, how it was transported, whether any information was breached en-route or at the residence, etc...

The first part may be correct, the second is not. The IC is not
"Reeling with the implications of how Trump was able to walk off with this stuff, how it was transported, and who may have seen it while it was sitting in his attic.", Because the intelligence community is very aware of the fact that the policymakers that it exists to provide exactly these documents to, receive these documents. It is sort of like asking how the heck the IRS got a hold of my tax return.

Apparently the DOJ doesn't agree with you or they wouldn't have asked for them back. Funny how that works.

That is not a disagreement at all. As president, Trump had the authority to declassify, move, and store documents as he saw fit. Once the government asked for those documents back, as Trump was no longer president, he was required to provide them. Unlawful retention of documents does not require the unlawful taking of them.

That's the problem.....in order to make that assessment, you have to assume it all happened while he was still in office

The movement, yes. If Trump took these documents after he was no longer president, then the movement and taking and storage would also be unlawful.

. Even then, apparently some of what he took wasn't supposed to be in his possession and was requested back. He failed to do so.

Okay, even if a lesser offense, the question becomes why so many people are out here defending it.
Because we live in a very stupid, tribal, time, and people are more interested in defending their avatars against the hated Other than they are in rule of law. We saw the same thing in 2016 with hillary. :(

I appreciate you being one of the few anti-Trump conservatives around here, but holy shit, does all the 'both-sides' crap get annoying. There is absolutely no comparison. Hillary was not screaming 'RIGGED ELECTION!' when she lost. Hillary's supporters weren't storming the Capitol in an attempt to stop certification of a fair election. And Hillary's supporters are not targeting FBI agents and their families for murder.
