How have you benefited directly from Obama's Presidency?

I doubt your son would be cut off under any administration. The goal is to get the deadbeats off, not the truly needy. I am not sure how revamped college funding really is other than they held the rates lower. The process is the same as it has been through multiple Congresses other than there is 1 master note instead of a new one for each loan. There is also the income-contingent repayment plans that have been around I think since Clinton. I am not sure how much more simple they could make it.

According to the SS administration, my son would have been deemed "not disabled enough" under a proposed plan put forth by the Bush administration and supportted by McCain (in Congress). Romney's buddy Rainman supported this measure in 2008

Maybe I misspoke I meant loans and how they are gotten and paid off. This was changed in 2010 by an act of Congress put forth by the Obama administration. And it will do what I said for my daughter. Simple is not the issue its the length and pay as you can plan for eligible students. This is new according to the DOE.
I heard Clinton talk about at the DNC and checked it out. It will help her alot and it did not exist before

You are absolutely wrong about No. 1, and probably wrong on No. 2 as McCain said that he would not strike inside of Pakistan.

On No. 1, I forgot to mention that it was Bush that did that, not Obama.

I think national statistics and sometimes state statistics are misleaders as to what life is like on the ground in a great many places. For instance, the number of working poor went up about 1% under Obama between 09-10 (http://www.workingpoorfamilies.org/pdfs/Overlooked_Dec2011.pdf) and I would be more comfortable with someone who is more politically flexible than one who is not (i.e. Obama is not). It does not mean that I support everything Romney says but what others might see as "flip-flopping" I see as adaptive which is what we may need. Not sure I will vote for Romney for certain yet, but I like the idea of allowing states to do more because as they do more, they will be able to be more creative than a 1 size fits all DC solution.

I Get an extra 50 dollars in my paycheck thanks to obama. I can stay on my parents insurance. Bin laden is no longer planning to attack.

I do not see how it is different than the income-contingent plan--you pay based on % your income above poverty level for your tax status and anything after 25 years is written off. That has been around for years to encourage grads to go into low-income fields like nursing, teaching, etc.

I am curious as to who here can say that they have benefited directly from Obama's Presidency in a way they would not have if somebody else had won. So, what direct personal benefit have you received from the trillions in additional deficit spending? If none and you are a democrat, what is your rationale for voting for him?

1. My taxes were decreased.

2. My adult children in college can remain on my medical plan.

3. Ending the Bush fiasco in Iraq saved billions, making the future better for my kids

4. Obama reglated frakking while allowing it to produce more natural gas than the country will need in a century, balancing energy growth with clean air and water.

5. Obama fixed the college scholarship system which was virtually privatized by Bush to benefit his cronies, so I can afford to send my kids to college.

6. Obama prevented the Bush Meltdown from becoming a second Great Depression, which would have destroyed my business.

7. Obama has reformed the stupidity of Bush's No Child Left Behind and its fixation on testing, which has made my kid's school experience better.

8. The stimulus bill pumped millions into our local economy in the form of freeway and other infrastructure updating.

9. I was able to put in a new energy effcient heating and AC system in my house and got a tax credit.

I pay $300 less per year in taxes. That's something. My fiance came home from Iraq. That's HUGE. In 2014 we might be able to afford health insurance without having to work for a big company.

Kids in college were always able to stay on their parents' plans. How many years of college did your kids do? 6?

No. Most kids wouldnt finish grad school until 26. Now they can stay on until 26 years of age.

Actually our bills have gone DOWN in the last few years. When we first got here (Bush Admin) we were paying 600 per month for heat and cooling. Now we are down to under 400.

So you're giving Obama credit for a more moderate weather pattern?

BWHAHHAAHHAHA!

You're so out of touch you must be Romney's press secretary.

They might have a job.

They might. They might not.

I went to grad school and had a job. With insurance. Most people I know did as well. I don't know too many parents who can afford to finance their kids for that many years.

Everyone on the Left got a tingle up their leg.

I lost my job in 2009, and because of the stimulus, I was able to afford COBRA so I could keep my insurance. I have a preexisting condition, so had I let it lapse, I would have been royally screwed when I tried to get insurance again.

I also benefitted from the recession not becoming a depression.

finally, I currently work in fundamental research. because there is no direct therapeutical application, the research is funded federally. however, when a pharmaceutical company works on degenerative muscle disorders, this research will probably be a price of the puzzle. I have worked in industry, and I spent a lot of time on pubmed reading federally funded research while innovating solutions. these studies are important even if they don't seem to be to the layman. if someone who doesn't understand the way science research works comes in and guts the funding, the effects will be felt by everyone who depends on medical innovation.

I started reading pubmed and the NIH site sites when I got diagnosed with a fairly grim congenital heart defect and started learning about all the wonderful things these federally funded programs have supported and continue to support. Best of luck to you in your research millions I hope benefit from it.

The cost of insurance for someone in their early 20's with no pre-existing conditions could be paid for with the recycling money they get from their beer cans. I've heard it is 40 when they nail you to the cross.

Yes, healthy young people who don't need medical care can get cheap insurance. And if you're not healthy, and need medical care, Romney says, borrow the money from your parents.

In short you've sort of missed the point.

Which point? Just stating the reality.
