This is your opinion that cannot be supported by anything other than partisan rhetoric.
This is your opinion that cannot be supported by anything other than a select set of polls that are not even borderline scientific.
Probably already posted, but i find it relevant to this discussion none the less:

Yeah, and the people are against Obamacare, so much for them representing the people.

American voters oppose 72 - 22 percent Congress shutting down the federal government to block implementation of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.
Voters also oppose 64 - 27 percent blocking an increase in the nation's debt ceiling as a way to stop Obamacare, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds.
American voters are divided on Obamacare, with 45 percent in favor and 47 percent opposed, but they are opposed 58 - 34 percent to Congress cutting off funding for the health care law to stop its implementation.
Republicans support the federal government shutdown by a narrow 49 - 44 percent margin, but opposition is 90 - 6 percent among Democrats and 74 - 19 percent among independent voters.
President Barack Obama gets a negative 45 - 49 percent overall job approval rating, compared to his 46 - 48 percent score August 2.
American voters disapprove 74 - 17 percent of the job Republicans in Congress are doing, their lowest score ever, and disapprove 60 - 32 percent of the job Democrats are doing.
not according to this poll from quinnipiac.

:lamo :thumbs:Did you actually read those stats or were you busy celebrating? Shows, even on this skewed poll, that Americans are, in the majority, NOT in favor of Obamacare.
You know, continuously claiming the above does not make it true.
When one duly elected legislative body waits until the 0 hour to deal with this why should the other duly elected legislative body or the president capitulate? If they wanted to conference about this they should have started 6 months ago. Does anyone really think that anyone would sit down and try to negotiate altering a signature piece of legislation in a single evening or even a week or month?
You do understand the corporate waivers only allow the businesses that were approved to continue to offer health plans WITH annual maximum benefit provisions. They aren't exempt from the ACA, only the provision that states the plans must have unlimited annual benefits. That's it... And only until 2014.
Guess you don't know the history. You should do some research.
A select set of polls? Try ALL the polls, even by organizations that are Pro ACA.
ALSO it is fact that the country cannot afford it, as the country cannot afford ANY additional spending.

Proof that it is the Democrats who are holding the government hostage, not the Republicans.
the poll on obamacares was that 45% of Americans are in favor of the law, while 47% are opposed to it. that's only a 2% difference.
however the poll shows that american voters oppose shutting down the government over obamacare by 72% to 22%
and American voters oppose blocking the increase of the debt ceiling as a way to stop Obamacare 64% to 27%.
and why is this poll "skewed"?
Typical skew - formulating the questions to receive the desired answer.
Show me one poll that shows opposition in excess of the margin of error.
In the progressive brain it's because the republicans aren't giving progressives whatever the **** they want when they want it..
Progressives feel entitled to whatever they want when they want it and this just goes to prove that....
Remember when a 5-year-old wants a candy bar and throws a fit for one and mommy says no - it's never their fault for acting like the children they are - it's "mommies fault."
Well you're seeing the same thing happen today on capitol hill - democrats are the 5-year-olds crying for candy and republicans are the parent saying "no." "No" being Obamacare.
"if you don't give me candy mommy I'm not going to clean my room"

Very good analogy!
but the senate and president also represent the people, or do they represent robots?
Well said. This administration only represents - only WANTS to represent half the people - while demonizing, vilifying, and segregating the other half.Robots, definitely robots! I prefer to think that than a POTUS who refers to Republicans as "enemies." Some of those "enemies" voted for him the first time, but when learned they were enemies, he lost their votes in his reelection. Not that he needed them, of course, but perception is important, you know. As far as Reid is concerned, I have no idea where he is coming from, except that he is definitely partisan, too, so he only seems to represent half the people, as does the POTUS. sad... :afraid:
Greetings, Unitedwestand13. :2wave:
This is just the same thing as passing a budget that defunds healthcare, they are trying to fund everything except the healthcare law. The Republicans want to pick and choose, either fund the entire government or face the backlash for shutting it down.House to try again to pass 3 emergency funding bills amid government slimdown | Fox News
