House passes resolution to move forward with Impeachment of Biden

Exactly what are these "high crimes and misdemeanors?"
I think what was used before was basically "whatever we want them to be"

I do wonder at impeachments that have absolutely no chance at convictions. It is a waste of time and effort, we should all be expecting more from our elected leaders. This goes for the time and effort they spent on Trump as well, knowing they would never get a conviction in the Senate.

The second Trump impeachment drew more votes for conviction by the party of the President than any previous Impeachment and the cause was just regardless of the outcome.

The GOP actually saying out loud that they want to Impeach Biden for policy decisions is laughable.

Nah. That's the MAGA excuse for everyting, "because we want to."

Andrew Johnson was impeached for violating the Tenure of Office Act.

Clinton for perjury.

Trump for attempting to extort a foreign leader and for attempting to overthrow an election.

Very specific charges, not "whatever."

There have only been four. Trump has half of them. The smart thing would be to dump Trump and get back to being a party where impeachment becomes rare again.

It is a waste of time and effort, we should all be expecting more from our elected leaders.

The public had a need to know.

Do you really think that there are enough Senate demorats and republicants who want to make Kamala Harris POTUS?
She's next.

I mean, let the fantasy play out.

I can see some thinking they will remove Biden and Harris, and replace McCarthy with Trump. It probably gives them tingles.
I mean, why not, when you can't win general elections.

Biden may not be a good President, but I'm not sure he did anything that deserves impeachment. Not like Trump.

Ok. You could (and they likely will) use that same argument.

It's dumb now, just like it was dumb then.

Which means exactly what, regarding garnering a conviction?

I would not bother myself about this bit of Rightie nonsense if I were you. Biden said it on the debate stage while campaigning. He was not in office at that time. They can't impeach him for this either. They will just make bigger fools of themselves in front of the whole country if that is even possible.

Just staggering how stupid the House GOP goons are. They have in one fell swoop proven that they can't make the bribery charges stick and they can't Impeach a President for his policy decisions. What a laughing stock.
It's an interesting move on the part of the GOP, and looking at it solely from their perspective, McCarthy has it right in that trying to do this now has the potential to go sideways for the party.

Not that easy. But OK....let them impeach Biden for policy issues if they must. They will get crushed worse in 2024 than they would have otherwise.

The argument for an effort to simply engage in Performance Art looking for a political dog pile on the carpet narrative by the GOP makes itself.

See ya' in 2024 Righties.

It adds credibility to the Impeachment itself.

All impeachments are not unwarranted just because they did not achieve a conviction just as all prosecutions are not unwarranted just because they don't achieve a conviction.

Both people who have responded to me are excusing the impeachments of Trump meanwhile expecting NO conviction (waste of time and effort) and then go on to excoriate the impeachment of Biden.

It is simply partisan to see it that way.

Either impeachment is for a purpose or it isn't. If you have zero chance of garnering a conviction, then it is simply a waste of time and effort that could be (should be) better used.

Nothing Boebert or MTG or the loons that join them is interesting....just bombastically STUUUUUPID

I categorically disagree.
That he has a bunch of traitorous idiots supporting him who would not vote to convict the man no matter what he did does not mean he shouldn't be charged.

They are in the political realm, unless your goal is to attack a political opponent in order to retain/gain power.

I'm sure this current house feels exactly the same way ...

Can't you read. The GOP House loons are literally saying out loud that they are trying to impeach Biden for Policy decisions. You can't impeach a President for policy decisions. They will just end up proving to the whole nation who STUUUUPID they really are.

Hopefully, that will not sway their decision if Joe Biden is guilty of crimes and misdemeanors.

If it does sway their decision, then that would reveal a very dangerous level of corruption within the country's Legislative Branch.

A major house-cleaning would be in order . . . . (pun intended)

IMO, I think Senate GOPers would be thrilled to get Kamala Harris seated as POTUS. Most Americans can't stand her. It would all but guarantee a GOP victory in the General Election next year.
Always thinking about what's good for America, eh? So, Biden should be impeached for his border policy and then Harris takes over as POTUS, and because Harris isn't popular, the Republicans get a better shot at a Govt. takeover in 2024. That's your plan to improve our Government? Endless impeachments? If you read that line of logic carefully, you'll see why the GOP/MAGA idiots don't have a chance. It's just stupid. Planning methods to freeze Govt. from functioning will never be a winning strategy.

Ok. You could (and they likely will) use that same argument.
Which argument? That the public had a need to know?

The GOP can make that argument when they have something to show. The situation at the border is well known. Nothing is being hidden. You can't impeach someone for policy decisions you don't like. You need a high crime or misdemeanor.
It's dumb now, just like it was dumb then.
What was dumb? The impeachments? Which ones? The Andrew Johnson impeachment wouldn't even be attempted today. Congress wielded more power back then. Presidents have fired and replaced cabinet members for some time. The Clinton impeachment was legally sound. I don't know if it was dumb. The Trump impeachments were required. The first informed the public of an unprecedented act. The second was because of an unprecedented act we all witnessed, which itself made it necessary. Not dumb.

I can read just fine. High crimes and misdeameanors is what exactly, please define.

They are in the political realm, unless your goal is to attack a political opponent in order to retain/gain power.
So what....we are talking about relevance and credibility here....not the Dif between Prosecution and Impeachment

It helps to ’encourage’ the ‘news’ media to pay attention. That (political) purpose alone is likely worthwhile.

Yep. The same argument will be made NOW.

Impeachments that are SURE to fail to garner a conviction.
To my mind the Clinton impeachment was dumb as well.

His immigration policies 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
