In a letter to Obama Tuesday, Speaker John Boehner and House Republican Leader Eric Cantor asked the president to meet with the bipartisan leadership of Congress this week to discuss his proposals in advance of his jobs address Thursday to a joint session of Congress.
The letter lists GOP proposals that have already passed the House that they said would be worthy of his consideration.
They acknowledged that both Republicans and the administration believe their policy prescriptions are best for the country and conceded that neither side would likely convince the other to adopt all of each other's proposals.

About god damn time some compromise was offered.

A lot of those freshman congressman got their balls roasted during the recess when they went home to face their constituents.

Does this mean that Obama is going to stop killing jobs? That's the only common ground I can think of, between the GOP and the Democrats.
Yeah, Obama is the job killer.
So...umm...how's the unemployment rate been looking since Obama took office? Are you aware that there there are 2 million more unemployed workers, since that chart ended? :rofl
Libbo can't even do good propaganda. :lamo
Oh yeah, they did.
Did you really need me to interpret the graph for you? I think it speaks for itself.
Oh yeah! It definitely speaks for itself. It speaks volumes.
Got anything, like, after May 2010? :rofl
Oh yeah, they did.
I think after the debt ceiling standoff, they'll be a bit more willing to work with Democrats... i can see them working with Obama, for instance. My gut feeling tells me the GOP will not be lifting a finger to advance anything Obama proposes even if it is the best idea in the world. They have sucessfully filibustered and basicly shut the country down from doing just about anything, at every turn. and I see no reason they would actually do their job. Not this close to the election cycle.
It is important for the GOP to keep the nation in a nosedive. They believe that is their ticket to get their party back in power. I believe they are counting on the people to, once again, forget how the GOP got us in this quagmire to begin with as well as forgetting that since the voters gave the GOP a bump, last election, things have only gotten worse.
They may be right.
Sure, the unemployment rate has fallen from 9.6% in May 2010 to 9.1% today. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/empsit.pdf

Obama is keeping the country in a nose dive, for them.
They share nothing, it's their way or the highway. The want the job situation to get worse so Obama won't be reelected.House GOP share some ground with Obama on jobs - Yahoo! News

Yeah, and I'm just dying to hear how the Texas drought and the spreading wildfires are Obama's fault too.
Obama may be a total ****-up. How would we know? Obama hasn't had much a chance to do anything to fault him for thanks to the obstructive GOP. Your guys have basicly shut the government down, filibustered and snubbed the majority will of the people, blocking anything, at every turn. I have never seen such hatred, from Americans, for a sitting president. I would expect it out of some 3rd world anti-westerner. But born Americans?
