House Dem: Impeaching Trump on party lines would 'tear the country apart'

It will be worse. Pure and unhinged hatted of all things republican, conservative, and Trump.

This is how I know Trumpers can never be helped. They’re lost in the propaganda machine.

You have already decided any evidence Mueller presents is all part of some grand liberal conspiracy and therefore can be ignored.

sounds like what you really want is a civil war. or you want a one party dictatorship

You want a literal criminal to remain president

I want the Republican party to either cease to exist, like the Federalists and Whig Parties did, or I want it to become a permanent minority that is incapable of stopping the move to democratic socialism.

It will happen. Every day Republicans die of old age while most young people register as Democrats. Most Democrats prefer socialism to capitalism.

well if you are slightly liberal-middle of the road liberal must be trotskyite.

You are right though, most Democrats are socialists because if they are rich-they like the perceived power that socialism gives them, and if they are part of the Democrat masses, they want socialism to take care of them because they are children who never want to grow up. Thanks for that admission

You pretend Hillary was less guilty

You literally just rejected a hypothetical presentation of evidence. People who do that can’t be helped.

You want a literal criminal to remain president

you Trump haters sure have a hard time with the presumption of innocence in this country but I bet when it comes to real criminals, you bend over backwards to trumpet their rights.

Whataboutism, really? That's your defense of Trump? If Trump is found to have committed a criminal offense, you would want him to remain president? Simple yes or no there.

Reluctantly, Rep. Nadler is right. We should hold on to trump as an example of how not to to govern/boogyman. BUTT! …that doesn’t prevent New York State from going after him and his son-in-law. :2wave:

<Rep. Jerry Nadler warned Monday that any impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump that begin in the new, Democrat-controlled House of Representatives would need to clear an obvious partisan bar.>

<Nadler, who is to take over as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and would oversee a potential impeachment process, outlined in an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” a three-pronged test that he said would make for a legitimate impeachment proceeding, including that the offenses in question must be so grave and the evidence so clear that even some supporters of the president concede that impeachment is necessary.>

<Once it’s determined that a president has committed an impeachable offense, Nadler said, lawmakers need to consider whether the offense will “rise to the gravity where it’s worth putting the country through the trauma of an impeachment proceeding.”>

<He indicated that he had yet to see evidence that impeaching Trump was warranted, but said that special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election as well as future investigations into Trump by Nadler’s Judiciary Committee could yield material for an impeachment proceeding.>
<“If Mueller shows us that the president has committed impeachable offenses, we'll have to make judgments as to how serious those impeachable offenses are and whether we should undertake an impeachment. If we see evidence of impeachable offenses not from Mueller the same question will arise,” he said, noting that not all crimes are considered an impeachable offense and vice versa.>

OOPS...backpedal backpedal backpedal.

Do tell when Hillary was found guilty in a court of law. Yet, you guys have pronounced her guilty of crimes. The only thing Trump has been found guilty of (so far) is being a man-child and thin-skinned asshole.

depends on the offense

Here is an example of TDS at its tertiary stage. Hillary is a scum bag, Trump is a scum bag. I prefer his policies over hers.

It might alienate some steadfast supporters, but those are fewer than have been made out to be. If the man deserves impeachment, let it happen. We have a process to find out.

It won't happen, but I think acting like it would tear the country apart is not based in reality.

I agree. There is another problem with impeachment, though. It would force Republicans to take a public stand on supporting Trump, which will kill Republican chances in 2020. Why do I consider this a problem? Machiavelli. Democrats will effectively become Republicans in their tactics.

You were the one spouting "innocent until pronounced guilty", so why does this change with Hillary and not Trump?

Oh...be honest. Don't you REALLY wish the Dems would go after Trump?

Translation: I've spent all my time talking smack about the Left, basing my opinions on their worst fringe, and now all this logic makes me look like I've been showing my ass all this time. Please, please, PLEASE be the devils I've been saying you are, I really don't want to look silly.

Not much left when you let the hot air out, is there Mycroft...hehe...

As satisfying as it would be to see that orange idiot put out on the street in his bathrobe, I think what you're seeing here is a prioritization of what is good for the country over what feels good. If only republicans would have had the same priority when they voted this worthless foreskin pimple to your nation's highest office. Maybe then you wouldn't have GM closing plants. Maybe then you wouldn't have pissed off your best trading ally, only to claim a victory that wasn't a victory, leaving your milk producers in continued crisis. Maybe then you wouldn't have the entire UN laughing at you. Maybe then you wouldn't be forced to fellate Saudi Arabia and Russia and Israel. Maybe then you wouldn't have your country ready to rip itself apart. Maybe.

Nah...I think more and more filthy liberals are catching on to the idea that sometimes you gotta let it fail. Populism is unavoidable from time to time...but it's a poison that brings it's own antidote, which, of course, is it's results. History bears that out time and time again. Maybe the Left is smart to let the Right learn this lesson once again, and not impeach. The only thing that might defeat that logic is the Right's boundless capacity to sustain damage and embarrassment when refusing to admit they were wrong.

Interesting. That would mean that Nadler expects the Mueller probe to come up empty.

Impeachment can't happen soon enough.

I am very liberal on economic and environmental issues, conservative on most social issues, and very conservative on criminal justice issues. I hate criminals and want them to suffer. If those stands are averaged, they come up to moderate liberal.

Impeaching Trump is short sighted. If he were impeached Pence would simply pardon him for everything. The best thing to do it let him run out his 2 years, beat him in the next election, then bring every charge against him and his associates that can be proven. Whether it does or doesn't tear the country apart may or may not be true but the best thing for justice is to wait.

Funny the first paragraph to Mycroft. And somewhat true as well. The extremes of both sides have been screaming at each other for so long that I don't think they know anything else anymore. But then you start with the name-calling yourself. Is it absolutely necessary to call Trump names all the time? You know it'll get an equally crappy response...

Nationalism is not a bad thing. EXTREMISM of any kind, is a bad thing.
And we all know the Oshawa plant was on its last legs for a long time now. You can't blame Trump for that. But you can blame globalization.

He will not be impeached.
