Honors student sues because she can't read or write

You had poor grades in high school and she had honor grades that makes the scenario a bit different. If she did so well in school. Wasn’t the teacherDoing a good job? It’s hard to fake high grades

If a student gets good grades in a particular class that doesn't necessarily mean the teacher is a good teacher.

Just as if a student gets poor grades in a particular class that doesn't necessarily mean the teacher is a bad teacher.

So pay me what an accountant gets per hour .(between 150-400]

This is ridiculous thing to say, renee.

If they made the lowest you say --- $150 an hour working 40 hours a week, they'd make $6,000 a week, $24K in a month and $288,000 a year.
If they made the highest you say -- $400 an hour working 40 hours a week, they'd make $16K in a week, $64 in a month and $768,000 a year.

But the median salary for accountants in the US is only $79K.

The average salary for accountants is between $58K - $127K.

So where the heck are you getting $288K-$768K? LOL!

I totally agree with you that we should not graduate a student who can’t read or write as most teachers. That is why I think this whole thing is bogus. I don’t believe she can’t read or write.
I have no idea if she is lying or not. I only shared an antidote experience i had with a substitute teacher and retired principle who both agreed with graduating students who were unable to pass their class and they justified their position by saying it was destructive to the student to hold them back so they could learn what was expected of them to know.

I'm just saying....the European White Male seems to be doing pretty great, according to the graph there. Not that I'm surprised.

Oh. I was confused because it isn’t broken down by gender. Leads me to believe you’re suggesting something but I don’t know what that something is.

Actually, I agree. If the kid doesn’t meet the standards, that kid should not be promoted. It is happening too often. I remember one year my principal came in and told me to pass one of the top athletes in the school. I remember saying to her that he was failing in my class and I refused to pass him.she smiled at me and said she knew I would say that

And the nationalaverage salary for a teacher is less than 50k
Keep fighting against teachers getting raises.(sarcasm )

Things don't have to be exactly the same for a comparison to be made?

I would think that was obvious
That’s why I did an analogy. That should have been obvious.

And the nationalaverage salary for a teacher is less than 50k

Average teacher salaries range from $45K - $92K, depending on the state, experience, education, job title, etc.

So, no accountants don't make a teacher's salary in a week or a month. You're exaggerating things. Why?

Keep fighting against teachers getting raises.(sarcasm )

I'm not against teachers getting raises.

Tell me again how I think low of myself because I think I'm paid well.

True… when I had the top classes, they usually went up a few, but when I had the bottom classes if they went up one year , I was happy

Women were never prohibited from college.
I saw a movie from 1933 last night, Baby Face.
Them theme of the movie was all a women had to do to get ahead was be attractive.

It is still true.

Attractive men do not hold a similar advantage.

Never have, never will.
Women were in fact, prohibited from the top networking universities like Harvard, Dale and Princeton
It was pretty sad that women had to get ahead by being attractive while men got ahead by being wealthy. Thank goodness that is changing.

Didn’t you say you were a teacher?

Yes, I am.
Then that answers the question. I think teachers should make a lot more and you obviously think that you shouldn’t and that you are well paid… ever wonder why teachers are overwhelmingly female?

I'm paid well. Why do you think I think low of myself because of that? I'm not poor or even close to being poor. I'm not against getting a raise or anyone else getting a raise.

How much do you think I should be paid?

ever wonder why teachers are overwhelmingly female?

We've already had this discussion, renee.

I won’t use my accountant analogy anymore. Do you think you should make as much as a lawyer?
I guess my opinion of education is that it is probably one of the most important jobs in the world.
One thing I am against is tenure. Rather than have tenure, we should hike up the pay for teachers.
Yes, we’ve had this discussion, but can you clarify it for me? Why do you suppose teaching that was predominantly female were paid less than most professionalsI. New York City, where I taught, as soon as men started coming into high schools “by coincidence,” the salaries went up.
I remember how elementary school teachers would fight for high school teachers to get more money because they work harder. Then I went to middle school and I realized that elementary school teachers actually had a harder job.

I think you should stop exaggerating to try to make your point hit more.

Same.

And, of course, you completely ignored the other question again.

How am I exaggerating? What do you think lawyers make?
You are agreeing that education is probably one of the most important professions in the world, but yet you seem to think that you are paid proportionately.
I think you should be paid double what you are paid.
My granddaughter just graduated from college and is a nurse and is starting at $80,000.supply and demand. I have a feeling that teachers will be facing the same thing.. women can now go into high paying professions and they are making a lot more money.

How am I exaggerating?

Do I need to point out the accountant thing again? C'mon, renee.

What do you think lawyers make?

Average ranges from $78K - $270K.

I'm paid well. I'm not poor or even close to poor. I work in a low-income district and probably make at least two times what most of the parents make. A lot more than that for others.
I think you should be paid double what you are paid.

Oh? So how much is that?

My granddaughter just graduated from college and is a nurse and is starting at $80,000.supply and demand. I have a feeling that teachers will be facing the same thing.. women can now go into high paying professions and they are making a lot more money.

That's a great salary.

It should not be a controversial opinion to expect students to know the materials before progressing to next grade.

I honestly don't understand the argument that it's worse for the student to stay behind than sending them to a higher grade I'll equipped for the new materials. Not only does it put that student at a disadvantage which is probably demoralizing for that student but it also holds back the entire class if a teacher has to teach things they should have already known before getting to that grade.

After COVID IMO it would have been prudent to hold everyone back 1 or even 2 years if necessary and get them back on track. At the very least conduct a test to determine who can move forward and who needed extra time in their current grade.

No you were not.

No point in making things up.
Women at Harvard 1879. Try again and stop making excess. Unless you are 80, Princeton also accepted you.

Good god take some personal responsibility

Harvard did not accept women until the 1970s what you are confusing yourself with is that they created Radcliffe, which was an all girl school. Harvard was the networking school and women who went to Radcliffe did not have that access.you know “separate but equal “ lol
As far as Princeton is concerned, The big decision came in early 1969, when the Board voted to admit women undergraduates for a “better balance of social and intellectual life” — just a few months after Yale had a similar vote. It happened because of a lawsuit. Women who are in their 70s could not have applied there.
Why do you suppose all these changes happened? Never underestimate the power of women.
