Honors student sues because she can't read or write

But she was doing well enough to get into college.

If I had a student that did incredibly well on every exam I gave, I would think I was a great teacher.

Oh, so you think she couldn’t read the book ?….or perhaps she wanted to be able to read it at a kindergarten level and wanted to practice. You think she really couldn’t read a child’s book? Talk about jumping to conclusions lol

She said she struggled reading it and had to take it home to practice. There was no jumping to conclusions.

And obviously, she did very well in the class so the teacher must’ve been doing a good job.

You can't do "very well" in school if you are illiterate. She is suing one of her special education teachers because she was a horrible teacher.

Or it's too easy for them and has nothing to do with you.

Well, maybe you should care what they say about you

I care about what teachers I respect say about me. I don't give on flying fig what horrible teachers say about me. Why should I?

Hmm…. DEI is alive and well at UConn.

What could be worse than passing tests in math and science?(Sarcasm )
good question

A) know how to read/write and be a B/C student
B) don't know how to read/write well but can test take and be an A student

which would be better ? this girl is a second

My fear is that it is only going to get worse. Years ago, the best and brightest teachers were women who didn’t have many options. Now these same women are going into better paying professions.. We have to pay teachers more …a lot more.

agreed - we don't need min wage increases, we need teacher pay increases but school systems are a complete disaster anyway -another topic completely there

Wtf!

This is ridiculous. Teachers are grossly over paid.
I can't speak for the red states but in the northeast, they make ridiculous amounts.

quick search - is this grossly overpaid in your opinion ?

I would be very anxious to hear why you say that our school system is completely a disaster

An accountant can make in one week more than a teacher can make in a year

Perhaps if you did care what teachers say about you, you might be a better teacher.

And you say you are a teacher? if the test is so easy why did she stand out from the others?

Oh, that’s great, blaming the teacher. Why doesn’t she blame all the teachers at the college where she is doing so poorly?

Federal law requires that students with disabilities are identified. The responsibility is on the districts to do such.

Unfortunately, parents often do not know their rights and know how to hold districts accountable.
If she was in special ed, that means her disability was identified.

Keep in mind that teachers generally work 187 days/year as opposed to other occupations which must work 240 days/year (28% more than teachers). IMHO, that’s an important factor when comparing the annual salaries of teachers to other occupations.

Why would an extraordinarily bright woman go into teaching today when she could make so much more in private industry this is what happens when you exploit women.
Rotflmao!

Women are exploited are they?

Unbelievable the things you read on the internet.
Truly unbelievable.

Try to make it through honors courses without being able to read or write. I was in all of the honors classes and activities from first grade on. I also took college classes in high school. I gotta say, this smells like buuuuuuulllllshit.

I would be very anxious to hear why you say that our school system is completely a disaster

because I'm tied into the education system through family/friends

we pour money into a system more than any other country with a ranked education system far below other countries

good question - not sure they would

which is why I agreed teachers are underpaid
