Rather than talking about my political opinions and background, let me explain where my avatar comes from. It's from an illustration I put together for my blog.
The protagonist in the illustration is Free Market Jesus - the messiah of crapitalism. And in this illustration (from a story called "Mullahs in the Stock Exchange") he is pictured with a calculator where his sacred heart ought to be, and is standing in front of an LED stock ticker.
