I am providing a video of a recent interview by Ben Shapiro of Helena Kerschner's "transgender and detransition" story.
Mr. Shapiro makes no arguments or points. He simply asked Ms. Kerschner to tell her story, and then asks questions which allow her to provide various details of the experience and how she dealt with them.
Ms. Kerschner discusses the pressures she was dealing with which led her into transgenderism.
She explains the processes she went through once she felt it was the "right thing" for her to do.
She goes on to explain the problems with the treatments she underwent.
Then her realization that she was not, in fact, transgendered, and how the "support groups" who had been encouraging her all along turned on her.
Finally, she expresses her "luck" at surviving the ideology, and the medical system which profits from it "relatively unscathed."
My opinion on this subject:
1. I am certain that there may actually be a small segment of humanity that are affected by this concern over being "born the wrong sex."
2. I am open to the possibility of some genetic or physiological cause of this syndrome.
3. I am also willing to respect the informed choice of transitioning made by ADULTS after it is determined it is really what they want to do. No one who supports individual liberty and freedom of choice could do otherwise.
However, I do not believe either pre-pubescent children, nor early teens going through puberty have the knowledge, experience, or maturity to make such life-changing decisions.
I also think there is a "cottage industry" of psychologists, endocrinologists, social workers, and educators who are pushing this in the name of ideology, and for profit.
So my position is to let kids be kids, by protecting them from social media "peer pressure to belong to an in-group." Pressures leading them to drastically change their physical appearance while truly unable to understand the permanent impact on the rest of their lives.
Captain, what does the Q stand for in LGBTQ?
That's an outdated acronym, I believe the correct one is LGBTQIA2S+
There is no such thing as Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria. That was debunked years ago. It didn't pass the laugh test from the very start.I am providing a video of a recent interview by Ben Shapiro of Helena Kerschner's "transgender and detransition" story.

Littman's claim was that around the time of adolescence, children were becoming dysphoric about their gender suddenly as a result of peer pressure and social media, and using that dysphoria as a coping mechanism.
She postulated that gender dysphoria was like anorexia for teen girls, and wasn't an actual medical condition, which it is, so much as a cultural and temporary response to the difficulties of puberty. She also claimed that these children had not been transgender prior to puberty.
In the article, Littman defined rapid onset gender dysphoria as "a type of adolescent-onset or late-onset gender dysphoria where the development of gender dysphoria is observed to begin suddenly during or after puberty in an adolescent or young adult who would not have met criteria for gender dysphoria in childhood."
She made this claim based on anecdotal "evidence" from parents of children and teenagers, not from clinical research. As nearly 2% of youth identify as trans,2
this claim affected a substantial portion of the population.
The paper did not take into account the fact that it's normal and common for children to keep sensitive information to themselves, and to present it to their parents when they feel ready.
By framing the fact that children may not tell their parents about their dysphoria until they're in the pre-pubescent stage, Littman discounted the very simple way that humans of all ages deal with complex emotions: by expressing them when they are ready to.
Your trolling is dismissed, and the question stands.
Captain, what does the Q stand for in LGBTQ?
The question is "irrelevant" for many reasons. Especially when it is posed as a Red Herring, rather than attempt to honestly address the video and the topic of discussion.
If you don't want to view the video and then participate in an informed discussion on the actual topic of the thread, then stop wasting time on diversions which need no responses in this thread.
Whoops.I am providing a video of a recent interview by Ben Shapiro
Did you not understand you were a boy when you began puberty?I dont think kids have the maturity to know their sex until they become adults. If they want to change their gender after they turn 18 thats up to them, but before that, its not a good idea imo.

What Are Puberty Blockers?
Puberty blockers are drugs that stop the progress of puberty. They're frequently given to transgender and other gender-diverse youth. Learn about how they work, who they are right for, and if they are safe.www.verywellmind.com

So important, and it's not just delusional gender theory spreading around social media. Your comment made me think of the below article:So my position is to let kids be kids, by protecting them from social media "peer pressure to belong to an in-group."
Why does the world seem so mad right now? There are two reasons. The first is the injection of implausible claims into our society. The second is the speed and volume at which they come: mainly thanks to social media.
Now I do not want to be prurient. Or prudish. But someone with a penis who dates girls is a dude. And a straight dude at that. And I’m not by any means certain that he should be competing in women’s sports even if he does feel kind of feminine every time he slips into the pool.
This is a deranging claim in itself. At the time that the first slaves arrived in America every civilization in the world still practiced slavery. There was nothing unique about America. But once the claims of activist non-historians like the 1619 project are spun through social media they enter a new realm entirely.
Two years ago there was even an attempt on social media to claim that 2+2=4 is a white, racist concept. As a result activist mathematicians busied themselves trying to prove that 2+2 could equal 5. The results were not persuasive.
This is at least the 2nd time you have claimed that studies are 'debunked". Your evidence? Blog and opinion posts.
Yet, the studies are still published, were not 'debunked', have been observed in clinical settings and are being used by experts in the field to create policies and treatments (i.e. Academy of National Medicine in France) .
It's really the strangest thing. Anyway, you do you.

This is infantilizing. She had a story to tell, and she told it. She knew (or could have easily found out) who Ben Shapiro is prior to appearing on his show. If you want to criticize her, then make your case...but don't pretend she's somehow been victimized here. It's too bad she and her story are being exploited by the likes of Ben Shapiro.
I mean...there is a very easy solution to that problem. More Democrats could simply speak up in agreement with Ben Shapiro that this is terrible and wrong and shouldn't have happened, as I do. Then it's no longer associated with Democrats and doesn't fuel fires in anyone's culture war. Just as, say, lobotomies don't have any particular cultural or political coding. The problem here is that Republican activists like Ben Shapiro and others are artificially amplifying the problem by focusing in on any and all horror stories they find and using them to make the problem appear larger than it is, associate the problem with Democrats, and in doing so fuel the fires of the culture war.
I agree with all of your points except for the "cottage industry" nonsense. There is no appreciable "cottage industry" of trained medical professionals that profits from abusing children. There are FAR more child pornographers in America than there are medical professionals who are forcing children into life altering decisions.
The "cottage industry" consists of exactly the groups of "specialists" who feed off of this new "mental health/medical issue" I listed in my response.
Psychologists and Social workers (who are paid for their evaluation and counseling services), endocrinologists who "specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of hormone related diseases and conditions," and educators like all those teachers and school officials inculcating these ideas in children's head while under their care in schools.

But there are people in this thread who are defending children being drugged so that they can begin transitioning sex. Two of them call themselves "Progressive" and "Slightly Liberal." So it's not like it's completely off base to associate this bizarre ideology with one particular side of the political spectrum.
I think the guilty parties know who they are.Not willing to tag us when spewing your transphobic ideology, Gatsby?
