Hegseth Said to Have Shared Attack Details in Second Signal Chat (2 Viewers)

If all his group chat had was “we’re bombing the Houthis” you might have a point.

The problem is we already know it is far worse than that, so argument is humiliatingly bad.
What else was in the group chat?

Do you think his wife tipped off the Houthis?
Trump is the one who tells the Houthis what's coming.

Hegseth gives 'em the time, place and specific aircraft. The wife probably provides the pilots names, rank and serial numbers -- names of spouses.

MAGA !

RFKrazy

What did they think was going to happen? Did they think the country would run smoothly? You have Trump and Musk competing for the, "Oops! I take it back!" award. The rest of the cabinet is in charge of screwing up so bad they take the focus off Trump and Musk.

Republican politicians and leadership only cares about partisan politics. That they know how badly Trump needed oversight and still they allowed him to fill his Cabinet with incompetent sycophants.

Which four people?

Fox News uses anonymous sources too, just like every other news agency on the planet.

There are good reasons why reporters protect their sources. Perhaps you should spend three minutes finding out what those reasons are.

Or you can remain ignorant and plow ahead with your current nonsensical routine instead.

Again I am forced to wonder why all of the responses to a new thread that is very newsworthy and response worthy is completely devoid of oppositional voices.

It is a pattern routinely observed. Tomorrow morning after the AM "real news" sources dessiminate the talking points we will see an influx of posts here, and it will no longer be the choir preaching to itself, but will suddenly become boisterously and vociferously argumentative.
Liberals in contrast are cats. Minimal coherence, always dispersed and painfully ineffective, too many of 'em. We have Hegseth and we are where we are today because liberals are ineffective in stopping Trump since 2015.....and always. MAGAs are always themed and unified which the herd of cats liberals consider to be contemptable. The proof of MAGA effectiveness is that we are where we are. And where we are still being taken unrelentingly.

Hegseth regularly invited his wife to DoD meetings despite the fact that she lacks any security clearance.

He also saw to it that Elon Musk was provided with classified information.

Last week Hegseth fired three close DoD officials - his top adviser Dan Caldwell, deputy chief of staff Darin Selnick, and Colin Carroll, who served as chief of staff to the deputy secretary of defense.

Total dysfunction. As was feared, Hegseth is in way over his head.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared detailed information about forthcoming strikes in Yemen on March 15 in a private Signal group chat that included his wife, brother and personal lawyer, according to four people with knowledge of the chat.

Some of those people said that the information Mr. Hegseth shared on the Signal chat included the flight schedules for the F/A-18 Hornets targeting the Houthis in Yemen — essentially the same attack plans that he shared on a separate Signal chat the same day that mistakenly included the editor of The Atlantic.
Mr. Hegseth’s wife, Jennifer, a former Fox News producer, is not a Defense Department employee, but she has traveled with him overseas and drawn criticism for accompanying her husband to sensitive meetings with foreign leaders.

Mr. Hegseth’s brother Phil and Tim Parlatore, who continues to serve as his personal lawyer, both have jobs in the Pentagon, but it is not clear why either would need to know about upcoming military strikes aimed at the Houthis in Yemen.

The previously unreported existence of a second Signal chat in which Mr. Hegseth shared highly sensitive military information is the latest in a series of developments that have put his management and judgment under scrutiny.

I'm feeling left out. Anyone here get the message?

His job is fine if it's limited to appearing on TV and acting macho and cruel on behalf of his chronically insecure boss. But they pribably shouldn't trust him with anything else.

Was it classified that we were bombing the Houthis?

We had been bombing them for months under Biden, even Trump made a strike prior to this.

You could turn on the news and see that we were bombing them and threatening to continue bombing them.

Was this really classified information?
It's called OPSEC. Something doesn't have to be directly classified to be considered situational classified.

For example, when we went out on WestPAC, those dates weren't technically considered "classified", but they were kept secret, as in don't tell your family even the exact date/time we're leaving because of operational security. Similarly, when Pres Bush came to our ship, before we were told about it, they set a condition that did not allow any comms off the ship so that no one leaked it. We weren't allowed to give any info we knew, which was about a week or two before. However, we did get mail in. And a few days after we were told, comms still off going out, I got a letter from my mom saying that she heard from my aunt that the news said that Pres Bush was coming to our ship. So the info itself was not actually classified, but OPSEC prevents us from giving away details, like those seen in those signal chats, that could give away key unknown info about an operation, tactics, dates/times.

Evidently the group chat (AKA distribution list) was created when he was undergoing the hearing process to keep people personally close to him in the loop with what was happening. He continued to use that list after confirmation as a private communications vehicle with those close to him. Had he never used it to discuss defense issue but just as a personal communications tool, like what time's dinner, that would be fine. However, apparently he chose to "discuss business" on it . My bet is he was using it to "show off", show them how important he was, boasting and bragging if you will. That is how totally unqualified he is for this job. Apparently his wife, his lawyer, his brother, a former Fox producer were part of the chat group along with several others.

I said the first was just the tip of the iceberg. He and many of these others are completely incompetent to fulfill these roles. 3 months in he and
US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA director John Ratcliffe and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard all shared military operations information on their phones...with a person they did not identify/know...on an app they'd been warned not to use.

And of course RFK clearly fits into the "incompetent" category as measles epidemics expand across the country and he prescribes vitamin A (erroneously according to sane Drs) and swears to find the cause of autism by Sept...and making the head of the committee a man who believes that vaccines cause autism...a failed theory.
You know a country is in trouble when loyalty to a leader overrides competence in their designated role.

Obvious sealion is obvious.

Was he drunk, again?

Only the best 👌

Yes.
Wait--is this what the conservative media ecosystem is telling its viewers what to ask?
Holy Christ.
How dumb does conservative media thinks its viewers are anyway?

Multiple posters have posted comments which suggest they think DoD communication protocols are merely arbitrary suggestions.

so...
