Having an abortion is not like going to the dentist!

Yeah, I remember that. I don't know why the producers didn't just have her ask for RU486.

Because not everybody obsesses about abortion like some of you guys do...

Again... What in the world does this have to do with what I said?

Sorry I should have just posted the info without quoting you.
I agree with you that water is wet but I don't trust anti abortion sites without checking out the facts.

Correct , morning after pills cannot stop a fertilized egg from implanting nor does it cause a miscarriage/ abortion.

Here is a simple , short ( less than 3 minute) cute animated science you-tube video explaing how Plan B delays ovulation , keeps fertilization from taking place and cannot cause a miscarriage/ abortion.

Women who have experienced trauma resulting from an abortion sometimes suffer from Post-Abortion Syndrome (PAS). Case studies of PAS and some social science research tend to be used by those opposed to abortion. The existence of PAS as a result of abortion is contested by those who support abortion rights.

Actually the APA ( American Psychiatric Association) Task Force on Mental Health and Abortion has reviewed studies and has determined it is the unwanted pregnancy that causes stress and it does not matter if the woman gives childbirth or has an abortion, the stress factor is the unwanted pregnancy.

From the Report
APA Task Force on
Mental Health and Abortion

On page 89 in The Summery and Conclusion section
One study, however, stood out from the rest in terms of its methodological rigor. This study was conducted in the United Kingdom by the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (Gilchrist et al., 1995). It was longitudinal, based on a representative sample, meas- ured postpregnancy/abortion psychiatric morbidity using established diagnostic categories, controlled

for mental health prior to the pregnancy as well as other relevant covariates, and compared women who terminated an unplanned pregnancy to women who pursued alternative courses of action. In prospective analyses, Gilchrist et al. compared postpregnancy psy- chiatric morbidity (stratified by prepregnancy psychiatric status) of four groups of women, all of whom were faced with an unplanned pregnancy: women who obtained abortions, who did not seek abortion, who requested abortion but were denied, and who initially requested abortion but changed their mind.

The researchers concluded that once psychiatric disorders prior to the pregnancy were taken into account, the rate of total reported psychiatric disorder was no higher after termination of an unplanned pregnancy than after childbirth.

This study provides high-quality evidence that among women faced with an unplanned pregnancy, the relative risks of psychiatric disorder among women who terminate the pregnancy are no greater than the risks among women who pursue alternative courses of action.

They didn't.. the character did. And who cares anyway, when you have the undead chasing you around trying to eat you to death.

Well, that's true. It was Lori's idea in the first place...

But hey, a baby is basically a giant burden during the apocalypse. And it does no favors for you when it starts crying it's heart out.

That part of the show bugged the crap out of me... having a baby during a zombie apocolypse.

Yeah, the last thing I would want to do is be stuck in the apocalypse with a baby.

Being stuck in the zombie acopolypse with a baby is one of the last hings you would want to do but being in the zombie apocolypse itslef is not one of those things?

Well, yeah I don't want to be stuck in a apocalypse, that's for sure.

But I'm just saying I wouldn't want a baby if I had no choice but to live in the apocalypse.

And now Maggie is pregnant - they must have used up all the condoms.

BTW, my comment about water being wet is just a phrase - of course I know water is wet. :p

I wouldn't trust an anti choice site if it said water was wet.
Post something from a credible source showing it does do that and I will take it seriously.
OK, perhaps this one, keeping in mind that another name for RU-486 is "mifepristone". On that linked page is a scroll-able table of data about morning-after substances, and mifepristone is on the list.

Again it is important to use correct information.
the link you linked to described a combo pill of Ethinyl estradiol( which is synthetic estrogen and
levonorgestrel which is synthetic progesterone. Plan B only contains levonorgestrel ( the synthetic progesterone.

The link says nothing about the pill being mifepristone.

As I said RU-486 is comprised of two different drugs ( the first is usually taken one day and the second drug the next day.
The brand name for RU-486 is Mifeprex it is made up of the medications Mifepristone and Misoprostol.

The Abortion Pill: Medical Abortion with Mifepristone and Misoprostol. Medical Abortion (brand name Mifeprex) is a form of early abortion caused by the combination of two medications, mifepristone and misoprostol that is an option for women who are 8 weeks pregnant or less. Also known as RU486 or medication abortion.

From Women's health website:
How does RU 486, the "Abortion Pill" work?

Mifeprex blocks the hormone necessary to maintain a pregnancy. When followed by a second medicine, misoprostol, the uterus contracts to expel the pregnancy.

In the scrollable table from your link it says :

Mifepristone (a single dose of 10, 50 or 600 mg)
0 to 120 hours
Widely used in China in a variety of lower doses; not licensed anywhere else for emergency contraception

It also says there were only 3 randomized trails using just the drug Mifepristone ( that stops the woman's natural progesterone ) .

Three randomized trials involving 2,300 women

Thanks, Minnie. I was going to point that out, but you saved me the typing!

YES. I saw that. It confirms what I previously wrote, that RU-486 CAN be used as a morning-after pill --and what I originally wrote, about it blocking the implantation of a blastocyst. I note that that 85% success rate possibly qualifies as the "mixed results" mentioned in the first link I provided. If it isn't effective enough, it won't get widely used for that purpose. But that doesn't affect the meaning of the word "can", that I previously used.

i wouldnt be coupling up with a chick period, during a zombie uprising.

My suggestion. Dont have sex during end of humanity situations especially when we are the food.

Eh, I know I would. Pretty sure the apocalypse can get boring at times.

You have that ... ill save mine for after I survive and you dont. ;)

I will keep saying this until I am blue in the face. Radical pro-choice groups are leading women to believe having an abortion is great! It is a simple procedure, easier than getting your teeth cleaned! This is utterly absurd! An abortion is the killing of a living organism. This is an unequivocal fact.

An abortion is not like getting your appendix or tonsils removed. That fetus inside is a living, breathing, unique person inside with an unalienable right to live.

I am not surprised how radical these pro-choice groups are becoming. Recently, this wacko comedian Chelsea Handler wrote an essay, essentially bragging about her two abortions:

Chelsea Handler reveals she had two abortions in the same year at age 16 - Chicago Tribune

Stories like these are absolutely ridiculous. Pro choice groups fail to tell the fact many women after an abortion suffer severe depression, ptsd-type symptoms, self destructive behavior, an inability to feel pleasure, etc.....

Things like that will happen after experiencing such a horrific event. Just like soldiers in war that witness mass murder and casualty. Physically when they return home, they may be fine however emotionally psychologically, they are never the same.

And having a baby when you're 16 is great? You did notice that part where she was a young teen, didn't you?

Until both pro-life and pro-choice groups stop making extreme statements (such as that one) and start preaching reality, we're going to continue having extremists and idiots on both sides of the line.

Some women love children, others hate them. Some are great mothers and have natural caregiving instincts, and other mothers smother their babies with blankets just to get a solid night's sleep. So yeah - some women feel that having children is of the utmost importance, and others don't regret every single choice they've made not to have them. One person's experience is not reflective or representative of the other person's experience. Some might have an abortion and truly have no regrets and suffer no long-term effects. Others might go deep into depression and race to have more children to fill that guilty void.

So really - you shouldn't speak for anyone but yourself.

And abandon the concept that society is tainting women with modern falsehoods of the blessedness of being childless... you seem to need a serious educational dose of family-upbringing history. Read about family life and the life of women in eras in the past - like Greece BC and Medieval Europe. That'll put some perspective on things, I hope.

And having a baby when you're 16 is great? You did notice that part where she was a young teen, didn't you?

He doesn't care about that. This is coming from the guy who actually thinks rape victims are sluts that deserve to be raped.

Your post is right on the mark. Especially the part about: women after an abortion suffer severe depression, ptsd-type symptoms, self destructive behavior, an inability to feel pleasure, etc.....

I am a psychologist who practiced for years. Half of my female patients came for those precise disturbances. Pro murder in the womb is a terrible thing, and it does not interfere with woman's reproductive rights as they have already took care of that; but it does take the life of an innocent baby in the womb. I know some people try to dehumanize the baby by calling it a cluster of cells, a zygote, or some other equally irrelevant name. I accept your blue in the face challenge, as does my wife, my three daughters and my granddaughter who has one child. I look at the rest of the pro abortion people and consider them to be complicate in murder.

And having a baby when you're 16 is great? You did notice that part where she was a young teen, didn't you?
I did notice. But she still didn't have to kill her baby in the womb. My 16 year got pregnant and when she went to the doctor for diagnosis and treatment the doctor offered her an abortion. My daughter was smart enough not to do it, and when I found out I went to the clinic are read the doctor and the clinic head the riot act, then went back and talked to the base commander. The Doctor no longer worked at that clinic.

My grand son is the love of my daughter's life and almost like my 7th child. God or humanity should punish women who kill their babies in the womb.
