Everyone's eyes 'narrow' as they age. Children and youths have wide, sprightly eyes. One of the attractive thing about young women is their big doe-like eyes. As we age, the skin sags around them and the openings narrow somewhat. Most people anyway. At 78 I'd expect someone's eyes to be markedly smaller that at 48.

I do not think eyes can shrink. But the muscles around the eyes may become weaker. Where is our friendly local anatomist when you need her?
