Guns, crime, laws and solutions

Hey Op getting deeper in to these thoughts,

What can we do?

Well if "The right to bear Arms" is the second Amendment of the Constitutions. Why do we not treat it as such, the first one gets SO much attention about freedom of speech am I right?

Why not discuss the right to bear arms more openly and educate from the ground up. Yes its seems silly to teach our children of weapons at such an early age....that seems so out of the ordinary right? NO its how our culture has become and forced it out the realities.

If we educated our children from the get go,

1) They would understand weapons safety at a much earlier age, Curiosity then would be managed as they would know what it is and how dangerous it really is.
2) Proper understanding and action of what to do when a weapon is present. Safe handling, turning it over to the authorities/responsible adult.
3) Laws and consequences, state by state. Let the children know of actions taken to protect them and others.
4) Implication of usage. What the heck it really does..... the honest cut and dry version.... Death.... no sugarcoating..... how do you teach a child that something is bad? You strike fear in them (sarcasm) but many of us know we respected our parents because of fear of spanking...... unfortunately its now taking away Iphones and computers.... bunch of !@#$%$%
5) Our society has got some major "image" issues. We need proper guidance, proper outreach and proper channels to lead our children in the right direction. More counselors, more outreach, helping hands and community projects to bring people together rather than separate them.
6) Role Models, Using proper role models, and bring them up...... Kapernick a role model...negative....doing it in the wrong way........

Anyways another rant about things we can do.....

Magic post, well said.

We teach kids about road safety..... not to play with fire and matches..... that hot things burn.... that sticking your fingers in electrical outlets is not a great idea.... that power tools can and will bite if not used correctly.... yet gun control insists we keep everyone in the dark and instead waste money on chasing guns instead of criminals.

So make the consequence similar to the act..... It is a dangerous weapon.... but dangerous when used dangerously..... Its no more danger than a pen, paper, car or barbie doll......

Only in America could that statement be made outwith a padded cell and then be claimed to be rational

Perhaps not putting guns in the hands of children in the first place might be a saner solution

Of all the tragedies that took place in recent times and not only on US soil in which people were killed with guns, what laws would or could have prevented them and how? Please be specific.

Laws do not prevent crime - laws simply allow criminals to be punished by society after the fact. Someone that does not expect to survive their (grand?) crime, much less care if they get caught and locked up for life, is not apt to be deterred by adding more law violations to their (final?) criminal "accomplishment". Laws merely deter the rational (sane?) from violating society's norms on a regular basis - mainly out of personal concern for either being locked up or paying a monetary penalty. Criminals seem to either lack that concern (dilligaf?) or the basic self control to act on it.

Governments kill more people with a pen then all the criminals of history combined.

Too bad only the governments have guns huh?

What did that have to do with putting guns in the hands of children ?

There is a reason I'm more capable of handling a firearm safely than you. It is because I started at 4-5 with a BB gun and a .22 and .410. That's almost 24 years of handling a firearm with 0 accidents. You can't even manage to keep them in your home without accidentally shooting someone. Or so you seem to think is the result 100% of the time.

Damn you are up late.

Well. Given that I was a child and I had a weapon in my hand...I think that would be self explanatory.

In the rest of the civilised world your parents would have been locked up for reckless endangerment of a minor and rightly so
too

The fact that someone like you would see nothing wrong with this picture speaks volumes about the extent of the gun insanity permeating your society

Do you have anything other than your demented demonstration of your fear. What is it that you are totally obsessed with the fear of guns. You keep projecting posting what you fear that nobody is in doubt of totally emotional nature of your every argument. It would be impossible for you to have a logical discussion.

No it is not. What you think is irrelevant.

That is because the rest of the "civilized" world is filled with people who believe in communism and fascism and other forms of government that would enslave their masses. Or did you forget that your "civilized world" is the birthplace of the most extreme forms of authoritarian governments?

Enjoy being a Slave. ;)

Well it does appear to be a British handgun and a British child. So you should probably check in on that. It was her parents who put that gun in her hand obviously before she learned trigger discipline.

This is why we can't give guns to British people.

How would you know what its filled with you've never been anywhere !

Or perhaps they simply believe putting guns in childrens hands or leaving them unlocked and accessible within the home is a very bad idea. Again the numbers don't help you here

Oh gawd

Enjoy your hugging fear sticks then

How would I know? There are these things called books. Videos. News reels. Benefit of being a history major is your get to review the history of many nations, including the ones you have never been too. I've studied governments of all kinds. Do you realize that politically speaking America occupies a very centrist realm of the political spectrum.

You Europeans have gone off the deep end on more than one occasion. Supporting fascism and Communism and absolute monarchies. My condemnation of your uncivilized nations is quite accurate. So it certainly explains why you are so petrified of a basic tool. I can't even imagine how you handled a gun in the military. My guess is you were horrifically unsafe. Being afraid of it and all. I guess you just didn't learn proper firearms safety in the army. Glad my father taught me. Never had an accident in my life ;)

But all you have actual experience of is life in the US

No they aren't they are out of date stereotypes . You really have no clue about what real life is actually like there today yet think you know more about it than people who live there. Travel broadens the mind so perhaps you should try doing some

So it certainly explains why you are so petrified of a basic tool. I can't even imagine how you handled a gun in the military.

Well first off I was trained that it was a lethal weapon primarily designed to kill as effectively as possible. Even children outwith the US don't need this explained to them

My guess is you were horrifically unsafe. Being afraid of it and all.

I'm far safer and freer from fear than you will ever be.

I guess you just didn't learn proper firearms safety in the army. Glad my father taught me. Never had an accident in my life ;)

So because it never happened to you its hunky dory having 14 times more kids killed by firearms in the US than in the rest of the civilised world combined ?

your frantic attempts to limit our rights belie your dishonest claims

But all you have actual experience of is life in the US

Can you tell me about the history of Huntsville Alabama? How about the politics of that particular city? How about the politics of the state of Alabama? How about the relations with the state of Florida? Crime trends between Alabama and Huntsville? Education?

Living somewhere is not experience. Living somewhere is just that. Living there. You actually have to read history about said place for it to count. Sorry friend.

Lol. "Out of date?" Really? Aren't you currently espousing extremist government views? Anti rights. What about all the stuff going on during your Brexit? Lol. Europe is perpetually on the edge. Historically speaking that has never changed. You go from one extreme government to the next. And it does move from nation to nation of course.

And this is of course all relative. The United States is very centrist between our 2 parties. They may seem night and day different to us, but we share similar values unlike your parties that occupy polar opposites on the spectrum.

Well first off I was trained that it was a lethal weapon primarily designed to kill as effectively as possible. Even children outwith the US don't need this explained to them

Out with? Outside? Your training didn't amount to much since you don't seem to understand how firearms safety works.

I'm far safer and freer from fear than you will ever be.

Says the man with no 4th amendment protection and more limited free speech and no right to keep and bear arms in self defense. Lol "freedom." You obviously don't understand what it means.

So because it never happened to you its hunky dory having 14 times more kids killed by firearms in the US than in the rest of the civilised world combined ?

It not only has never happened to me...it has never happened to millions upon millions of Americans.

More children die by pools than firearm in the United States. You gonna demand we ban pools too?

Laws do not prevent crime
That is a bit too simplistic. Fact is that the existence of laws has a certain level of deterrence and depending on what they are addressing they can be window dressing, minimally effective or quite effective. Would you argue for the elimination of laws?

one thing that is obvious

laws that restrict or deny people the ability to buy guns legally are least likely to impact those who engage in felonious behavior and cannot own guns as it is.

My experience includes lots of experience with multiple countries around the world. Living and working in these countries.

You sir are just plain wrong.

You have been proven wrong multiple times

Even your own countrymen report being more afraid to walk home at night than americans.

Your violent crime rates are higher than the us.. despite your gun ban

When you banned guns.. your murder rate soared until you added thousands of police.

You are so paranoid of guns that you won't let your Olympic shooting team practice with them.

And despite having millions more firearms arms than any other country... the US is one of the safest nations on earth.

those are the facts.

Hmmm....

You sir are just plain wrong.

The numbers tell a different story

You have been proven wrong multiple times

Not to date I haven't

Even your own countrymen report being more afraid to walk home at night than americans.

Not likely on the basis of one subjective poll

Your violent crime rates are higher than the us.. despite your gun ban

Nowhere near

When you banned guns.. your murder rate soared until you added thousands of police.

Our gun killings are currently at the lowest ever recorded as are our police numbers since 1975

You are so paranoid of guns that you won't let your Olympic shooting team practice with them.

And I should care about this ?

And despite having millions more firearms arms than any other country... the US is one of the safest nations on earth.

those are the facts.

Apart from it being by far the most dangerous developed nation on earth due to its gun madness

There is no law that can prevent people from killing each other even if every guns in the world have been detained, they will simply create new one,
we're talking about human behaviour the problem its not the gun but the person who holds it, there is no such laws which can control human utterly. The only way to prevent ''Gun Madness" is only child education, education to children which makes them have a good character of human being and someday when they grow up they will create new better world. But if we're talking about present, not much that goverment and their law power can do.

But if the easy access to guns wasn't there in the first place the children wouldn't have this ideological obstacle to confront in the first place. Guns make killing far too easy :(
