Greater Sydney council bans ‘revealing swimwear’ sparking debate about double standards

At least england sees this as an equal opportunity.

Newquay, a popular coastal destination southwest of London, has introduced the ban on offensive clothing and possessions ahead of the 2011 summer party season, empowering police to use their discretion and confiscate items.

In the first few days of the campaign, Britain's Daily Telegraph reports that three men were told to hand over crude toys and clothing, including a mankini - the bright green one-piece male swimsuit made famous by Sacha Baron Cohen's outrageous film character Borat.

There you go @Bok Tuklo a pic as requested.
What possible consequences?
More mankinis on the beach.

It could help in thinking about ways of overcoming rather silly hangups over what people wear.
The only time I care about what people do in Europe is when I visit Europe. Otherwise, I couldn't care less.

Ever since our country was founded after kicking GB's a$$ Europeans have pretended to be superior to Americans. Arrogance and smugness doesn't impress me.

Ummmmm....this is an issue involving 5 public pools in Sydney Australia. The ruling doesnt impact bikinis. It involves floss and g strings.

How exactly does this involve 'Republicans'? Or the US at all?

Ok, but this is a rather limiting view, since learning from others is a great way to improve things.

Sometimes countries can learn things from other countries. I cant confirm that but it sort of sounds possible.
Maybe he is confusing Australia with Austria which is mostly a whole other place. Easily done.

Irony is also not very impressive.

Does anybody really object to a bit of skin on display ? They need to give their heads a wobble.

On a side issue I read the headline of this article and knew straight away it was about womens bodies. I just wonder when the anglophone world will actually grow up ?

So, you favor people walking around indecently?

There may be an element of irony in the poutrage over this. cant help but wonder if someone did actually post pics of women in revealing g strings on this site, would it get censored?

Shouldnt it be their decision ?

Like the public airwaves, shouldn’t decency standards at a public beach or pool be the public’s decision, perhaps through a city or town council? Should parents have to avoid taking heir kids to a public beach or pool because some guy wants to show off his 9-inch shlong in a rainbow-stripped willy pouch penis thong?

🤣

It's like you guys have an imperative to fulfill every conservative cliche. You guys can't help but be the parents in Footloose.

I support no "decency standards" whatsoever, simply because watching you guys clutch your pearls and chant "think of the children!" Is incredibly amusing to me.

From the article:

Earlier this year, a man called on the Gold Coast Council to ban skimpy swimwear because it left him feeling “uncomfortable”. “While any man would enjoy ‘the view’, I believe women are very much demeaning and cheapening themselves,” he reportedly wrote. He said he “innocently … admired a shapely bare bum” then felt “uncomfortable”.

Why is the responsibility always the woman's and never the man's?

It is... That's part of the decay within our society.

A woman knows a man will look and think of sexual things. There is no other explanation.

So she should cover up? And how much?
