The GOP legislators let him skate, twice, on corruption charges. He could always force them to defend him, but it is true that they weren't much interested in helping him govern.

What corruption charges would that be? The two impeachments? The first was based on nothing but democrats pushing a phony narrative that Trump withheld financial aid to Ukraine unless Dopey Joe's crack cocaine addicted son was investigated. They developed a phony whistleblower and no direct witnesses. The Senate determined that there was no evidence to prove the corruption charge. Case closed. If the republicans retake the House in the 2022 midterms, they will actually have clear evidence that Dopey Joe held up loan guarantees to get a Ukrainian prosecutor fired, if they want to impeach Dopey Joe. They would have a much better case then you think the democrats had against Trump.

On the second impeachment, again it was based on a democrat party narrative...or if you will, accusation only. They claimed his speech as evidence, despite the fact that the January 6 riot was planned and organized at least a week in advance of Trump's speech according to the Capitol Police and the FBI. Unlike the House, the Senate, when run by adults will not convict based solely on a narrative. They want actual evidence. On that note, there is the Antifa/BLM activist caught participating in the riot, videotaping it and instigating the violence. The most likely scenario was that antifa/blm instigated the riot and the Trump supporters who were caught up in it were just useful idiots for the left.

Not even members in his own party supported the expense of building a wall.

Mr. Art of the Deal couldn't get his own party on board w/ the project until
after the Democrats gained control of the House.

Mr. Art of the Deal waited until getting border wall legislation through Congress was it's most difficult
before he began using his presidency to push for it.

Mr. Art of the Deal does NOT want a border wall anymore than the rest of the GOP want a border wall.
