I repeat: Demographics are against the GOP as the country gets browner. They have had the baggage of the Southern Strategy, law and order rhetoric, etc., which many people read as anti-minority. And along comes Trump who turns dog whistles on race into loud trumpet calls. The good: the GOP highlights minorities in the party, stresses “family values” which appeal to minorities. The bad: as soon as the Supremes gave permission, they institute voter ID laws and other restrictions in states which had been monitored for years for suppression of minority voting rights. Nothing new. It happened post Reconstruction when the demographics of freed slaves were a problem. It continued for almost 100 years til the Voting Rights Act of 1965. When the the Supreme Court said it was no longer necessary, the states of the old South and AZ covered by the Act unsurprisingly and fairly quickly proved the Justices wrong.Link.
First try at posting a thread. I don't know what qualifies as MSM.
That said, this stinks to high heaven. Absentee voting has been shown to be perfectly reliable. Getting rid of early voting on Sunday? This just seems to be such a blatant attempt at voter suppression. Thoughts?
When will voter suppression end?
Are we a Third World country?
We just witnessed a Banana Republic for 4 years led by Head Chimp Donald Vladimir Adolf Trump
Let them eat Bananas

Why don’t we just limit voting to a five minute period at a single location to be announced by the current governor one minute ahead of time. That should stop those fraudsters!
Quit yer bitching.
After all the election fraud that was enabled by abusing the absentee ballot system, did you expect the GA Republicans to just sit back without doing something to prevent it happening again?
I particularly like the one about requiring a photo id when applying for an absentee ballot. This will eliminate all those illegal ballots dumped into the counting center at 3:00 in the morning.
None of these GOP voter suppressions can be stopped without passage of the ‘For the People Act’, aka H.R. 1 and S. 1.
This act will be filibustered by the GOP. Without nuking the filibuster, Democrats will be surrendering to a permanent GOP apartheid.

relax.... It's just "proposed"
Certified by the GA Election Commission. The Georgia Republicans certified the election for Biden.
Yeah, just humor them. What could be the harm?
Certified by the GA Election Commission.
But so what?
That doesn't mean there wasn't election fraud and it certainly doesn't mean steps to prevent election fraud shouldn't be taken by the legislature.
Certified by the GA Election Commission.
And who made this "commission"?

Are you kidding?!? It was one of the most contested and controversial elections in history, and Georgia played a key part in that. It makes sense that they would want to address the issues raised, so that they aren't the center of controversy again. We just had the most secure successful election in our history, and rather than taking what we learned from a success and polishing it to make it even better, Republicans want to tear it down, because they cannot win a fair election...
