GOP seeks to place limits on Absentee voting and Early Voting on Sunday

Are you kidding?!? It was one of the most contested and controversial elections in history, and Georgia played a key part in that. It makes sense that they would want to address the issues raised, so that they aren't the center of controversy again.

Manufactured controversy versus REAL voter fraud is indicative of nothing more than the desperation of the GOP.

That it was contested speaks only to the unwillingness of the loser and his supporters to accept the results.

Everything they are trying to change in Georgia was always unquestionably fine. Now suddenly, its all a problem, because they lost.

let's face it. The only way the Republicans can win is to suppress the minority vote. They are very good at it. gerrymandering voting districts, purging voter rolls, limiting polling places and hours in minority districts, voter ID, I probably left out a few.

Mail in ballots took them by surprise. They lost everything. They are freaking out.

They are doubling down on all their voter suppression methods in the red states. My bet is those mail in ballots won't be happening next time.

Now the question is will America have free and fair elections in the future or will we let Republicans run roughshod over democracy in America?

What can the Federal Government do to stop Republicans from cheating? Make mail in ballots for federal elections legal in all States?

That's a very partisan standpoint that only works for 'the winner' wearing party blinders. You may have a different take in the next close election. I think it's better to address the concerns, so we don't have these issues. Prime example is Florida - where the state updated it's system after Bush v. Gore so that they wouldn't have to experience a situation like that again.

How much actual voter fraud has been uncovered? Anyone can file a lawsuit and make all kinds of bullshit claims as we have seen repeatedly over the last four months... Showing actual voter fraud is what is lacking...

They aren't "addressing concerns" as proven by the fact that these concerns did not exist when Republicans were winning elections. They are simply limiting access to the ballot because they are losing now.

The "issue" is that they are losing.

Clearly racially motivated ....

Contested and controversial due to the Orange Retard and his baseless claims. That doesn't mean it wasn't the most secure election. Trump supporters can go suck on their sour grapes and **** off.

Democracy scares the daylights out of the GOP. They hide behind their white hoods every election cycle but the tide is turning and sooner or later they will be powerless to control government unless they change dramatically.

None of these GOP voter suppressions can be stopped without passage of the ‘For the People Act’, aka H.R. 1 and S. 1.

This act will be filibustered by the GOP. Without nuking the filibuster, Democrats will be surrendering to a permanent GOP apartheid.

Same day, no fault registration, unlinked to any state ID and unable to be marked ineligible even under color of law (IE illegal voting).

Federal determination of voter eligibility, requires states to count ballots outside their district boundaries, outright prevention of checking ID or addresses----banning of witness signatures and notaries, forcing states to accept absentee ballots up to 10 days after election day.

Finally, MANDATES vote harvesting.

HR 1 is a gigantic pile of dog shit.

They know they cannot win without such tactics. Desperation is exactly what it is, and you can tell by them not even attempting to conceal it, it's out in the open. It's like the murderer screaming out in court, after being sentenced to death, 'I'm the victim here!"

Quit yer bitching.

After all the election fraud that was enabled by abusing the absentee ballot system, did you expect the GA Republicans to just sit back without doing something to prevent it happening again?

I particularly like the one about requiring a photo id when applying for an absentee ballot. This will eliminate all those illegal ballots dumped into the counting center at 3:00 in the morning.
All the election fraud your side has never been able to prove.

I don't think lies and dishonesty are a strong backbone for arguments supporting voter suppression.

It was only contested because butthurt cultists couldn't except the outcome.
And do to all the pho outrage it was the most investigated election ever, and the outcome of those investigations was that it was the most successful and secure election In American history...

Yes - there were a lot of issues with the 2020 elections - it makes sense to address them.

No one is talking about 'limiting access to the ballot' for eligible voters

It's "contested" because Trump threw a fit like a baby when he lost and his Cult ate up all his lies about "stolen elections". To the intelligent, this wasn't a controversial nor contested election. It was an embarrassment for America, yes, because Trump made it an embarrassment.

Next close election???

You are aware this election wasn't close right???

Tbe only actual fraud I have seen was from tbe right, and even that was just a handful of cases.
You see when the majority turns out and votes, no cheating is required.

So now what we have is Republicans realizing that they are heavy minorities and must suppress voting in everyway and anyway possible...

Why are they even bothering to pass a law? Don't they know they can just change voting rules whenever they want without any oversight, including after the election?

Maybe they didn’t think that they could rely on having a federal emergency declaration handy for making future election law fiddling acceptable.
