GOP ramps up call for Schiff to resign as intel panel chief during heated meeting

The House Intelligence Committee devolved into bitter infighting Thursday at a public hearing after all nine Republicans on the panel called on Chairman Adam Schiff to resign from his post, while the California Democrat responded with a blistering account of what he termed "evidence of collusion" between President Donald Trump's campaign and Russian interests.

"We have no faith in your ability to discharge your duties," said Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas), who led the House's Russia probe last year. Conaway said Schiff's insistence that there was ample evidence of collusion were "incompatible with your duties as the chairman of this committee." And he said the findings in special counsel Robert Mueller's report — which haven't yet been viewed by any members of Congress — "conclusively refute" Schiff's allegations.

We're reaching a point where a Constitutional crisis seems inevitable. When the time comes that there's no more separation of power, that's when democracy ends. There was an overwhelming vote in the House to release the Mueller report to Congress and it's just not going to happen because Republicans are shielding it from being disclosed to Congress. There would OF COURSE be areas that will be redacted to keep the Grand Jury hearings confidential and to protect any source. What are the Republicans trying to hide? If they have all agreed, including Trump, that the people in this country deserve transparency, why are they fighting so vehemently against transparency?

Good Dog but Schiff is a walking, talking turd.

Could we dump him AND Trump off a fishing boat over the Marianas Trench?

We really are in a war against fascists.

If only Americans had any evidence of collusion...

Like every American intelligence agency finding Russia worked to influence the election in Trump's favor
Or Russia hacking the DNC
Or Russian spies meeting with Jeff Sessions multiple times without being reported by Session
Or Russian assets meeting with foreign policy advisor George PapaD to arrange meetings between the Trump campaign and Russian officials
Or Russian assets telling Trump campaign foreign policy advisor about Russia having hacked materials related to Clinton "dirt"
Or the Russian government explicitly offering the hacked Clinton "dirt" to the Trump campaign
Or the Trump campaign accepting a meeting to get Clinton "dirt" hacked by Russia
Or the Trump campaign meeting with Russian officials to get hacked materials and not reporting it to the FBI
Or Trump organization negotiating a Trump Tower Moscow during the campaign
Or Trump's personal attorney making multiple trips to Russia to negotiate a deal
Or Trump's campaign chairman engaging in discussions with Russian oligarchs and lying about it
Or Trump's foreign policy advisor Carter Page making trips to Russia and talking to Russian spies
Or candidate Trump standing on a stage, while Trump Tower negotiations were ongoing, and asking Russia to find Clinton emails
Or Russia hearing Trump ask for Clinton emails and within 24 hours begin trying to hack Clinton servers
Or Roger Stone coordinating timing of release of Russian hacked materials
Or Roger Stone, while coordinating time of release of Russian hacked materials, being in constant contact with "senior members" of the Trump campaign
Or foreign policy advisor and incoming National Security Advisor Michael Flynn secretly and illegally promising Russia relief from sanctions imposed because of Russia's interference on Trump's behalf

If only we just had ANY evidence at all of collusion...

Even if the report gets relessed, it's not going to happen 6 days after it was submitted to the DOJ. There is classified and confidential information that has to be sifted through. That'll take weeks, at best.

I still predict the Democrats will hop in the "release the report" bandwagon once they figure out that it will do more harm than good. They can't afford another dud, right now. It would be in their best interest if it wasn't released, so they could speculate about it's contents and bitch about it not being released.

If it's released and there's nothing there? It's all over and the Democrats look even dumber than they already do.

And the SOLE reason it hasn't been released is that the ethics in government act was allowed to expire.

****ing convenient.

The classified information would have to be redacted, no matter what.

Are you really expecting the government to work efficiently?

It's fine if it is redacted. But the reason the report is not released is because we now rely on, in the words of conservatives, "the bloated, inefficient functions of government agencies, which have too much power." In this event, the DOJ has authority here, via a memo. The ethics in government act would have ensured the report was already with the house and senate.

But noooo, we need less transparency.

If only the Democrats would clean up their own crime scene of a party instead of grandstanding, deflecting and witch hunting a nothing burger...

Not necessarily. Schiff and others in the Gang of Eight (at a minimum) can read anything no matter how classified, and DoJ could arrange for others to read classified material if they so choose. We saw it with the debates over FISA warrants, which were provided un-redacted to members of Congress, then released in full with redactions. No reason both cannot happen with Mueller's report. It's only 300 pages according to an alert I just received.

Adam Schiff isn't a night-riding-backdoor traitor like Devin Nunes has been. All he seeks is the truth and the only way to that is through the Mueller report. It's 900 pages that took two years to compile and the AG made conclusions about the content in 48 hours. The Republicans in the House have unanimously voted to give Congress access to that report. Now, they're back-peddling on that 'transparency' demand. But why? Why is it becoming such a vehemently argued issue to protect this report from Congress? If there's no guilt then why are they now protecting the disclosure of this report to Congress? Is that how republicans see 'transparency'? Congressional Republicans are nothing more than accessories to one of the biggest crimes that could possibly ever be perpetrated upon a democratic republic, they're all treasonous traitors to this country.

They probably already are. That's why I predict they'll stop screaming for the release of the report, in the near future.

You’re suggesting that the laws and processes put in place to protect people such as grand jury panelists and whistleblowers be adhered to. Well, the mob has spoken and their bidding MUST be done.

Democrats should be ashamed of themselves for the way they’ve been acting these past years. They won’t be but they damned sure should be.

Something is rotten in Denmark with the GOP rush to judgment surrounding everything that touched the Mueller Report. It simply does not pass the smell test. This matter with criticism of Schiff is just the latest example.

We REALLY need to put this nothing burger to bed.

Read it a nice bedtime story and zzzzzzzzzzz...

And Schiff?

He's a grandstanding little toad.

It's a sign of how far one's party has fallen that democratic and ethical principles appear shameful to you.

Possibly, but with hundreds of pages, they can find plenty of stuff to spin & keep the conspiracy carnival going for months.

Maybe even until November of 2020.

Which is all this is about.

Transparency?

:lamo

You'll be complaining to the Democrats before long. Wait and see.
