GOP Nightmare, Obamacare Popularity Soars

It was pretty obvious that a significant segment of the GOP faithful had a really hard time accepting that the man in the White House was black and a community organizer.

In fact, they still can't get over it. He's still called a community organizer which was his job before entering law school.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with tripling insurance premiums, high gas prices or soaring food costs. Its all because we have a half black president.

Regarding #2, I thought people without insurance were denied healthcare. They had no access to it. Dozens of thousands of people each year were dying because they had no insurance. Now you say that they have a place to go for healthcare and don't have to worry about paying for it; we pay for it. Which is it? Do people have access to healthcare without insurance, or don't they?

They were denied health care until they got so sick, they went to the ER.

It happened day 1.

Still no inkling of why gas prices were under $2 in early 2009, huh?

Gas prices quadrupled under Bush while the economy burned and thousands of American soldiers died looking for WMD that did not exist, but yet the GOP faithful said no one word. And, it's not just party loyalty--you all kicked out your own Black leader as fast as possible---that Steel dude.

and then they tried to pretend he was never really there because several hundred of his classmates did not know him. I know it is anecdotal but I got dozens of undenialbly racist emails during the run up to the election. One with a watermelon patch in the back yard of the White House and Obama with huge lips, but hey, not all right winger were racist, but there are quite a few and they seem to be pretty well accepted. I beleive there are still a few birthers running around...
It was pretty obvious that a significant segment of the GOP faithful had a really hard time accepting that the man in the White House was black and a community organizer. From the Birthers, who insisted Obama was born anywhere but here, to the crowd that swears he was in Harvard Law School only by the "advantage" of being Black, the true colors of the Republican Party was shown for anyone to see. And it wasn't pretty.

Then they only have to be stabilized. One of the biggest problems with our system.

So in other words, everyone in this country has access to healthcare.

And no, people weren't denied it other than in an ER. We all agree that a doctor has no way of verifying that a patient who walks in has insurance or not. I could go to any doctor's office today and say I forgot my card, and they would see me anyway.

"Subhuman Mongrel." And, the guy who said it is still invited to all the events and campaigning with mainstream GOPers.

No, they do not have access to helathcare. If they go to the ER they must be stabilized. Do you really belive the uninsured in this cournty have the same access to healthcare?

I just think Ted is the perfect example of a right winger...

Not at all. There are GOPers who wouldn't support him because he's black, just like there are Dems who wouldn't support Hillary because she's female.

How do you explain the Dems who didn't vote for Colonel Allen West? I guess you have to assume it's because he's black...

By the way, there are loons in both parties. You already knew that, I assume?

Stop with the broad brushing.

Yes they do have access. You admit they have access in the ER (which by the way, treats more than serious illness - you can go there if you have a cold). If someone makes an appointment for a doctor, the person checking him/her in has no idea if he/she has insurance or not. This is even being discussed in another thread. There is NO database that confirms who has insurance or who doesn't. A person can get any care from anyone.

Yes. He should have called him "the first clean and articulate" black guy like VP Biden did, or pointed out that he has no "Negro accent", like Senator Reid mentioned.

You're understanding of the healthcare system is pitiful. Go educate yourself on this and come back when your opinion is based upon reality.

I'll give you a simple example of why the previous system offered bad care and was more expensive. A Type 2 Diabetes patient could be seen in the ED for emergencies, but regular follow up was not covered. This meant poor control of blood sugars, etc. and many more complications that would be treated in the ED, until some terminal complication arose ESRD, MI, amputation. That patient then ended up transferring to Medicare leading to costly treatment of a preventable outcome.

Everyone has access to the ER. It's not the same.

And no, we don't agree that a doctor has no way of verifying that a patient who walks in has insurance or not. Doctors can call the insurance company and have them verify your coverage. In fact, that is exactly how it's done

Yes, of course you are correct, anyone cna get medical care anywhere. I dont understand why this ACA thing even came up...

I find that most people spouting out about this have no clue what the hell they are talking about. It's not like one visit to a doctor, after lying about "forgetting your health card", will cure your heart disease or diagnose...oh, I don't know, Crohn's Disease or something equally difficult to identify, like a thyroid disease, yet alone treat it.

The right wing noise machine. But what I dont understand is why those imaginary people that get all that free health care did bother them before there was a mandate to insure them. Used to be they wailed and nashed teeth over people wanting "free" healthcare. then ACA came out with a mandate, now free healthcare was great cuase we had or freedums...I gotta stay off these threads.

However, the GOP has the distinction of actually having those loons elected to public office (Bachmann, Gohmert, Cruz) and actually having loons like Nugent actively campaign for candidates.

Yeah...or why anyone bothers to buy insurance. Hell, just go to any old ER and get treated for free.

At one of the GOP presidential debates, Ron Paul actually suggested we let the uninsured die, and the audience cheered.

The bolded above is nonsense. I can assure you that the clinic which I use verifies insurance and allows cash payment at the time of treatment. I am sure that some cash customers manage to get care, as I do, by running a balance but if that is not paid down, on a regular basis, then no further care will be given.
