I remember a time when we didn't have an illegal immigration problem. Mexicans farm workers could come up here and find seasonal work and go back when the season ended. What happened in Mexico that caused so many to give up their own farms, their livilihoods, leave their families and risk their lives to come here just to clean white people's toilets?

Ahhh, most of that particular cuisine (what passes for "Mexican food" here) is made up and original to America.

As to the OP - immgrants are what has kept and keeps this country strong, productiive. It is indeed a melting pot (melt dammit). However, you are correct about illegal aliens. They shortcut the immigration process and lose all their societal goodness in doing so.

The US destroyed millions of Mexican livelihoods by "dumping" and undercutting the price of corn. Thank you NAFTA. Soo...the US reaped what it sowed.

Mexico was self sufficient. By destroying the farmers livelihoods, Mexico is now dependent on US corn and since the farmers lost their farms, they have to come to the US to find work.
