Girls -- the B word[W 66]

It is very offensive when a man uses that word, in the same way that it is offensive when a non-black person uses the "n-word." If a woman wants to use the "b" word, then she should be able to as it is simply reclamation.

What about d*ck, a**hole, and douchebag then? Those are all derogatory terms generally only applied to males.

Are they as offensive as the "n-word." Should we try and "reclaim" them?

One doesn't have the right to offend others with impunity.

Beg to differ. There's a document over there in Philadelphia that would like to disagree with you. Read it; you don't have to go past the first amendment.

People - not just women - generally have no rational basis as to what they're offended by. It almost seems arbitrary. For instance, what exactly is so offensive about the word "c*nt"? I don't know of any particular aspect of that four letter word that would indicate it as being abnormally offensive, other than we're told it's an offensive word.

Conversely, as I've always chased and been attracted to older women, my pet peeve is when women call me "pup". I hate that. To someone else, they'd probably go "lol wut".

There's no rhyme or reason to it.

Of course. All of language is ultimately arbitrary. That's actually the beauty of your usage of the word "woman."

It's so out of date that there's technically no social stigma against it. The people you direct it against can still choose to be offended by the context of the word's usage, but they don't have any rational basis to start a fuss over it.

It's basically the perfect "troll" word.

It's also a useful tool to show the complete idiocy of being offended by random words.

Men are not a traditionally oppressed class, so no.

Riiiigggghhhttt... Bigotry is only okay when it's directed against groups for which you don't happen to have a raging pity hard-on.

That makes perfect sense.

If you have a problem with people being offensive you could always try being offensive back.

The individual words you choose are less important than the context in which you use them. Even the ugliest words, when used to express affection, do not mean the same thing as when they are used to hurt. That's why black people can call each other nigger and white people can't. That's why gay people can do the same with faggot. Words are a tool to express ideas and feelings. It's those ideas and feelings that matter.

No women shouldn't use belittling and offensive language either. Sorry your mommy was mean to you. Grow up.

So am I just supposed to be a doormat? Sorry, but that really isn't in my nature.

You can just be normal. Neither a douche or a door mat.

Why take your mommy issues out on all women?

It can still be misconstrued. I could have a conversation with a black man and say, "Boy it sure is hot outside" and he can toss out the racist accusation. To blacks, "boy" is a protected word. Hell, didn't we have this conversation about Christie recently?

When it comes to racists and idiots who play the race card, words are objective. There is no grey area. Use is a no-no, regardless of meaning or intent.

When trolls use words to offend don't act suprised when it works.

I used to think that words were harmless if they were not used in a derogatory way. This is not true. While consciously saying the B or N word as a sign of fellowship like "What's up B*tches?", there is a negative subconscious impact on yourself, along with the people who hear it.

Before I decided I needed to make a change in how I spoke with people, I thought I was a decent human being who treated others with respect. My relaxed attitude and thinking I could have locker room talk with anyone caused a strain on my relationships and caused me to lose friends along they way. I thought people were being too uptight, but failed to realize that I was the one causing the damage. Eventually saying certain words influences your physical posture and non-verbal queues. You might be saying one thing, but your body is speaking something else, most often without you realizing it.

In my journey to become a better person, I also found I couldn't listen to certain songs anymore. The psychological impact they were having on me was just as bad as how I used to interact with others. When I took a step back and observed my emotions, I could feel self-hatred in my emotions. I could feel unwanted anger and resentment. Just like the phrase, "you are what you eat", you are also what you speak and hear. If you think words are just words, then you need to take a step back and do a self awareness check.

If you would rather be a douche it's your right.

Why are you so angry about your mother?

I would rather put people in their place when they feel it's perfectly fine to act in an unacceptable way.

Because they introduced this abomination into our language...Capiche.

I see. No one called a woman a bitch before the black man did. Too damn funny.

Of course they have that right. They will most likely face a backlash and repurcussions of some sort or another but they have that right.

l dont like it .l dont like such implications either

Doubtful. If someone wants to strike (assault) someone over a 5 letter word, they can. They can also go to jail, too.
