In the news in Business Insider, referring to defense industry and parliamentary sources, it was announced that the German army (Bundeswehr) had enough ammunition for only one or two days of war.
Berlin falls significantly behind NATO’s requirement to keep stocks for at least 30 days, Business Insider reports in Germany.

The problem is said to have been “known for years” as military exercises suffer from insufficient stocks.
After Russia declared war on Ukraine in February, stocks were further depleted as Germany, along with many other Western countries, began to send weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.

Today I read in my own local paper in Germany, that our Bundeswehr (Federal Army for the Protection etc ) has only got enough ammunition left for one day.
And I fear: Putin knows!

In the 80ies of the last century we had this slogan: "Frieden schaffen - ohne Waffen! = Let us bring peace - without weapons!"

Now the time has come, as it seems ....

Today I read in my own local paper in Germany, that our Bundeswehr (Federal Army for the Protection etc ) has only got enough ammunition left for one day.

i dont think so. with all respect but this link SUCKS ) , UK has ammunition FOR 2 WEEKS, i think G. has for 2, 3 weeks as well. + G. has the largest in Europe industry complex . the problem is that many in G. hate G. army. the good news for you that U. and Poland are always ready to fight Moscow barbarians

This is probably not the best time for Germany to curtail its military funding. The US military under Biden is rated as "weak" and probably couldn't win a war on one front much less on two if attacked.

You do know the US military budget is at its highest ever...

Which is why I tend to have a jaundiced view of reports that USA is running out of anything, munitions OR hardware related.
No, not because I don't believe the reports, but because there's no earthly reason WHY a trillion dollar military budget SHOULD be even IN a condition where they are running out of anything.
If they're running low, they have more than enough money to correct the condition and I am sure beyond any doubt that suppliers will be more than happy to crank out more of whatever is needed. Just cut the checks because the money is already IN the budgets.
And if it's not, well Hell, it's the ****ing MILITARY fer chrissakes.

Unfortunately, I'm very well aware that all federal spending is the highest ever. Funding does not make a military. US military retention and recruitment is the lowest it has been since Carter was President.

Germany is a NATO country. Putin will only attack individual nations who he feels his forces can beat. Remember when the Russian media and generals were talking about flattening the UK into a glass surface not that long ago? That was all talk - attacking a NATO country is not going to happen anytime soon.
