Anyone see it last night?

The funny thing is I don't even recall the sex in the books (back in the 90s). It was trivial, atmosphere at the time from what little I recall. OK books, not my personal favorites, but any fantasy put on-screen I'm going to watch and most likely enjoy.

Yet as done on HBO, it felt like I was watching "Game of Thongs".

Luckily my in-laws went to bed earlier rather than stay up to watch it with us. Good gods that would have been terrible. Especially how much I built it up about me watching to watch it.

I had no idea what was going on, on HBO these years!

Are you kidding me, that's what turned me off from the series, but book three it was like reading a demented sex novel.

Its shaping up to be one of the most faithful adaptations to a book that I've seen, which makes me immensely happy as its far and away my favorite fantasy series I've ever read.

As far as the sex in the show...pretty much every bit of nudity in the show was present in the first 8 chapters of the book that was the analog. The Tyrion brothel scene was added, but on the flip side Catalyn didn't answer Master Lurwien's knock at the door nude. So if anything you have a few more breasts, but not all that much more. Its a series and a story that primarily and completely is focused on power, and in many ways sex is something that directly ties into that.

The entire series is unquestionably adult in nature. Various sexual subjects, significantly ambiguous morality, extremely gritty and cuthroat battles...its not your tolkien style fantasy.

I thought the episode last night was absolutely wonderful and am anxiously awaiting for next Sunday. I'll have to repost a mini-review on it here at some point. Now I just want the damn 5th book to come out.

Yeah, that's what people are reminding me of. I think only book 2 was out when I started them. Good grief. I remembered the opening scene and the wolves, and that it was chock-full of intrigue, but I didn't recall the rest.

Had a friend invite his whole family to watch it, I guess it could have been worse :)

the more thongs the better dude!

I haven't checked. Did you read the books?

Not yet, but I want to get started. I love high fantasy in the vein of Tolkien, but I watched all 10 episodes of season 1 online, in like two days after a friend recommended it to me, and I ****in loved it.

I just caught this. Balls-out awesome, and I can't wait for Season Two.

I am so happy people are impressed. I hope they win lots of awards. I also hope you'll read the books. ;)

started reading the series as soon as I saw the first episode. I am very impressed with how much comes right out of the books, There is slight miscasting as far as appearances go, but nothing that detracts from the story nor the characters. I have finished 3 books so far.

I read the first two books quite some years ago, then stalled because George takes too long between books.

Been watching the series.... possibly one of the best book-to-screen adaptations I've ever seen, and just generally awesomely good.

AMAZING book series and my definite favorite. They did a GREAT job with the show, and took some things word for word out such as the Lanister family talk between Jamie and tyrion at winterfell.

Casting was by and large amazing when it came to actors and looks wise was only a bit questionable on a few but was pretty decent.

Drogo was amazing in the series. Viserys, Osha, and Jorah I actually liked BETTER on TV. Arya was picture perfect. I loved the added word play between Varys and Littlefinger.

Roz can take a hike however

And they REALLY didn't need to keep the one scene with hodor true to the book......

come on man, best tits on the show! I don't think so buddy

I only saw the first 3-4 episodes. I guess I'll have to wait until they're released to Netflix to play catch-up.

So? You guys thing GRRM will get his book out this month as promised? My copy is already ordered and paid for.

It's already been sent out to 100+ people by mistake by Amazon Germany so yes, it'll be coming out

I've only read about 1/3 of the first book because I borrowed in from my cousin on a road trip while he was reading it. I've been meaning to pick it up, along with the rest of the series, but I've been bogged down with other reading.

From what I did read, it was damn good -- and that's saying something, because reading fiction doesn't usually hold my interest. I could tell Martin had actually researched historical precedents for the societies/kingdoms in his work, and it brought a lot of authenticity to it.

I'd like to see the HBO series, but I don't know if I should -- don't want to spoil the reading when I eventually get down to it.

About a quarter of the way through book one, I wrote my nephew. "Mass confusion, wtf is he doing? Does it ever get easier to follow?" He said I'd adjust, keep going. He was right.

HBO series tend to have a lot of sex in them. Spartus is really bad for that. It's pretty much soft core porn.
