Yup, a lot of people got fooled and made a poor choice. Now they will suffer. This is what happens when people turn away from good policy.

They are brainwashed.
They were brainwashed about Trump's promises and they were brainwashed about boogeyman and they were brainwashed about the Democratic party platform. The Republican drumbeats about egg prices, illegals, transgenders, DEI, etc. were extremely effective.
Not sure how the Democrats counteract that, you can't force people to turn off FOX and Newsmax or stop looking at their Facebook feed.

I am highly doubtful about this statement : " The debt is not the result of the trade imbalance. ". This is a debt to the foreign countries not the the local residents.

You're welcome to doubt it, but if the balance of trade were shifted do you really think that change would, itself, result in the federal government spending less than it does today?

I don't think that federal govt spending is much related to the state of finance of course.
But the Trump team addresses govt spending, and I just offered folks to suggest what they can offer instead of these spending cuts...

There we fundamentally disagree. We have a federal debt because we spend far more than we take in.

Thus far I have no real issues with DOGE. I do have issues with Trump's reckless approach to trade.

Pretty simple. US sells more. Spends less.
Reduces taxes. More favourable conditions for the home productions. Production returns to US.
More job openings. More money collected in taxes. More money for fixing home issues.
