So Flake is a yes. This ensures that the vote will move out of committee and sets up a final floor vote for early-mid next week. If the nomination does make it to the floor, it's up to the remaining [currently] declared undecideds--Manchin (D-WV), Collins (R-ME), and Murkowski (R-AK). Flake was a yes to get it out of the committee, but, it is unclear if he will vote yes when it gets to the floor. If he voted no, then there would be no ability to get a FBI investigation.

I'm confused. The conservatives on DB have been telling us that the FBI can't possibly investigate this because they don't have the authority. I guess they really do when the Senate wants them to.

you have to understand the leftist mindset It worships government and sees the senators-well at least the leftwing ones-as their masters and parents. We on the right see politicians as our servants and in many cases, necessary evil. I loved seeing a guy who is brilliant rip into people who are second rate intellects like the bar flunking Quota Queen, the howling man hater from Hawaii, and of course, Stolen Valor Blumenthal.

He does this all the time. Is this really a surprise to you? He especially does this when he looks foolish.

I’m aware. This thread preceded his change of heart on the FBI investigation. At the time it was started, his office had released a statement simply stating:

“After hearing more than 30 hours of testimony from Judge Kavanaugh earlier this month, I was prepared to support his nomination based on his view of the law and his record as a judge. In fact, I commented at the time that had he been nominated in another era, he would have likely received 90+ votes.

When Dr. Ford’s allegations against Judge Kavanaugh surfaced two weeks ago, I insisted that she be allowed to testify before the committee moved to a vote. Yesterday, we heard compelling testimony from Dr. Ford, as well as a persuasive response from Judge Kavanaugh. I wish that I could express the confidence that some of my colleagues have conveyed about what either did or did not happen in the early 1980s, but I left the hearing yesterday with as much doubt as certainty.

What I do know is that our system of justice affords a presumption of innocence to the accused, absent corroborating evidence. That is what binds us to the rule of law. While some may argue that a different standard should apply regarding the Senate’s advice and consent responsibilities, I believe that the constitution’s provisions of fairness and due process apply here as well.

I will vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh.”

His position changed for some reason. Many are crediting the survivors who confronted him in the elevator and subsequent further consultations with Collins and Murkowski.

Last time; the impetus is on you to provide a reputable source if you want anyone to believe what you are spewing.

Otherwise it is nothing more than another fantasy invented by partisan hacks because they can't handle the real world.
