Absolutely not. Gun control is a right. Why would we restrict a right further when all of the above CAN be done WITHOUT restriction of rights?

Because restricting that right just a little bit could be a big part of the solution. All rights have limits. I never said get rid of the seconda amendment. That is the extremist argument and not part of a legitimate debate on the issue.

Just kidding but in 95% of the nation, the risk of violence is very low. While we can't rid ourselves of the violent hot spots, when someone makes the comment that the US is the most violent of first-world nations, it's not really telling the whole story. It gives people the wrong impression. It would be better to explain that we have some extremely violent inner cities, but outside of those, we're typically very safe.

Banning assault wepons is ridiculous. So is magazine limits. The goal is not to eliminate mass shootings because that is impossible....just make them a little harder

The Las Vegas shooting was the biggest mass shooting to date, but compare that to over 100 being shot in Chicago just over the long 4th of July weekend. We hear so much about mass shootings, which are relatively rare, but we've become immune to the constant killing places like Chicago, Detroit, Philly and St. Louis. Those are the places that are raising our violence stats.

No, but that's a different topic. We need to figure out why crime rates are once again on the rise in these areas and figure out ways to reduce the problem.

It absolutely IS a part of legitimate debate. As stated before...there have been legitimate attempts to ban every major category of firearm in America. Do you understand what that means? It means that every single one of you who believes in "restricting a right just a little bit," don't always agree with what "a little bit" means. And in the end? That "little bit" adds up to a lot. Like New York writing laws that are vague on the topic and end up banning pump shotguns due to a "high capacity" magazine of 8 (because a 12 gauge in 3.5 inch or 3 inch can use short shells).

Further. There is no legitimate reason to restrict a right "just a little bit" when other efforts have not even been attempted. We have had gun control efforts for 80 ****ing years. It will never end. Why? Like I said...people like you will believe any propaganda about "just a little bit." All it takes is someone using a handgun and it will be demands for glocks. Then a shotgun and all pumps gotta go. Or some wacko on near the freeway with a bolt action.

And so. Can you give me one good reason why should ban or even restrict "assault weapons" when I can go buy one a much more deadly weapon (statistically backed) in the local walmart without even an age check? I could send a 12 year old with cash to pick it up.

That isn't the argument that pro gun control folks seem to think. If you HONESTLY believe that...then you should support enforcement. Not new laws. We have the laws on the books. Newtown was barred from purchase. He had to murder his mother to get a gun. You should also support further reach into mental health disorders as that is the only way to identify risky behavior.

In the United Kingdom I would likely be banned because I have epilepsy. Can you give me a reason why someone with medically controlled and extremely mild (no tonic clonic/grand mal seizures) would need to be barred from purchase?
