You really don't want to know my views on judicial reform. "Get better or get dead" is a critical and pivotal position. If you can't learn how to do something as simple as "not kill/savagely beat people" pretty quickly, we need a quick skimmer of the gene pool to get the floating cockroach out.
Well despite much evidence to the contrary I have more faith than that.

And the parents are to blame for not instilling those things in to their little thug children.Along with the development of self-esteem, comes morality and empathy. Some of you seem to believe these are separate and unrelated concepts, but they aren't. They are all components of the developing human character.
And the parents are to blame for not instilling those things in to their little thug children.
I just want to pinch your cheeks while I read this.
Sounds good. And? What do you propose to do? Lock them up for being bad parents?
I hate it when I see people post this type of mentality. We treat kids differently because they are different. Why do we not allow people to vote until they are 18? We don't even let grown "adults" drink alcohol until they are 21...why? Because we as a society believe that they are not emotionally mature and capable of making intelligent and rational choices fully until those ages. Yes....kids should be punished for poor behaviors and they should be punished harshly if the crime is serious. However the idea of treating kids as adults in all cases is just a ridiculous proposal.
Sounds good.
Correct. This dad should have had his son apologize.

It would be really nice if faith were the solution, but faith doesn't work very well against violence.
That's cute. I just want to pinch your cheeks while I read this.
Why would anyone believe that the kid is sorry? That was essentially one of the things about the entire story which bothered me. I don't want to hear the parent speak for his son, and say that the son is sorry. I want to see the son own up to his own actions, and offer a real apology.

At least you recognize that there is evidence to the contrary. That is a start.
Why are conservatives so cynical? I mean seriously WTF happened to you guys.
They are always sorry, when they get caught. Why would anyone believe that the kid is sorry?
They are always sorry, when they get caught.
Huh?
He specifically stated that the kids had committed a violent crime which was altogether different from "skipping school, taking someone's bicycle for a joy ride or bashing in somone's mailbox" and should be punished differently.
Depends on the school too be honest, I went to schools on military bases around the world and have experienced first hand how brutal kids can be regardless of skin colour or social background.
no, this is not about race ... at least until the race baiters show up
i suspect many of us have already formed our opinion based on racist drivel we have seen in posts
