Ah, so I see you are amazingly confused. I am a gun owner and a believer in the 2nd amendment, and have probably spent far more time fighting against the anti-gun crowd than you would even consider doing (you know, out in the real world, not an an internet forum). But the reality is that the problem is not guns (as the anti-gun crowd wants the world to believe), the problem is elsewhere. I can not blame 'violent video games', as I play COD and so far haven't shot anyone… Could it play a role in younger kids that are not brought up with strong parenting? Perhaps, perhaps not.
There is the whole issue of pyschotropic drugs, detachment that todays youth has due to electronics, lack of parental involvement as well as loads of parents living in denial that their kids are anything other than 'perfect'. The destruction of a mental health system in the 70's and 80's as well.
Of course your post is 110% overreaction, as well as simply making crap up. I am well aware of the issue around having people committed and/or having them marked as 'unfit' to own a firearm. Government has proven it can not be trusted, even more so when it comes to doing the right thing WRT our rights and liberties. Thus my comment about some serious transparency needed as well as some method to get 'out' of such a position if wrongly put in there (or labeled) by the government. It is a fine line and MUCH care must be taken. But to sit back and say "there is nothing wrong with the mental health system" is to be so f***ing ignorant as to invalidate anything you have to say.
I have a child that has some mental health issues, I've been through hell and back with all of it. We have reached a decent and stable point, but it took YEARS to get anyone to pay serious attention and to get the help that was needed. And I mean real help, not just doping up the kids which is the quick and easy answer for far too many people. And it took me and my wife having to pay attention and care, and fight doctors and insurance, which it seems a lot of parents do not do (cue up parents of mass shooters….). So believe me, based on some of the proposals of the 'anti-gun' people I understand they'd love to take my guns due to the condition of one of my kids, so I know it's a very damn thin line. But to ignore the reality that 99.99% of the issue is mental health is to doom those of us that believe in and understand the 2nd amendment to further restrictions on our rights.
It's not enough to keep yelling "the gun did not do it!" We must focus the attention on the real issues and help provide realistic solutions. Or just sit back and watch your rights decay further because you did nothing but scream about those 'libtards!'
