Fast Food Burgers (1 Viewer)

I’m more of a smash burger guy. The only thing holding the patty together is the melted cheese.

View attachment 67510541

Looks about the same altho I've started putting mine on toasted English muffins... better meat/bread ratio, less calories. And the burgers fit perfectly. I usually grill some onions in the pan on the side while the burger's cooking. Maybe grill a chunk of poblano or Anaheim. Then chipotle ketchup. No lettuce...no flavor-added value for me.

If I eat the burger, I dont have room for anything on the side. I'm full.

They weren't exactly fast food, they were cooked to order and you could add every conceivable topping known to mankind, and they were a bit pricy, but well worth it! They're still around in a lot of states.

Only one in California.... 400+ miles away.

I have gotten quite good at the stuff I wouldn't do before at home.
Before the pandemic I would have never bothered with Chinese food, i.e., but now I am quite good at it.

My black bean burgers are to die for. :)

I love vegetables in almost any Asian style. I think I've shared my curry recipe...which is from a book...in another thread. For me, the issue is cutting out as much salt as possible, which is tough with most Asian sauces. Yellow curries can do lots of flavor and heat without as much sodium. And the turmeric makes it even healthier.

OMG girl we do have the same taste!! I loved Fuddruckers! We have one near my house. Yummy! I'll have to agree.
You have one near your house? I HATE YOU!   I'm not supposed to eat red meat, but I'd blow that up for a Fuddruckers burger right now!

Can you torture me any more????

Now I want one! I was thinking I'd call you and video chat there but I won't be that cruel. ;) :ROFLMAO: Maybe I'll just send you a pic. lol I totally break my no red meat rule for Fuddruckers!

Now, next time I visit, I'm thinking of taking my mom to the one in NJ, it's not that far and I know my dad used to take the family there (he was helping me move out West when we met the owner, so I was gone). He's gone now but I bet she'd like dinner there for an outing.

Cheers for the good memories all!

I have only had 5 guys a couple times in the past 10 years.
I don't eat fast food. I don't trust the bottom of society to fix what I eat.
Nope... you should read the restaurant inspections that occur every year wherever you live. It is public record.
I guarantee you, you will be very grossed out on the kind of things these inspectors see.
That is true of any type of restaurant/food service place.

It’s difficult to poll for best fast food burgers because I don’t think everyone has easy access to all that’s out there. During our travels I like check out fast food burgers which aren’t in our region, mid Atlantic-northeast areas. The one that was my absolute favorite was Roy Roger’s double RR burger with the fixins bar. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen a Roy Roger’s around in a long time. Now, I’d have say that 5 Guys has my vote. During a trip through California I had to try the In n Out burger because of all the hype about how great they were. IMO, grossly, grossly, overrated. I’d put them on a par or just above McDonald’s.
How about you? What’s your favorite and least favorite?
Bagger Dave's. Had one several years ago, ate it without any condiments or accompaniments. Not bad.

I missed Roy Rogers. I haven't been to a Five Guys in a while... but I went there a bunch back in the 90s when they were local to the DC area.

Actually while In and Out isn't the best out there, the fact that their prices have stayed low relative to the other places.

Not many seem to agree, but I think modern Carl's Jr/Hardees is pretty decent. It kind of has that flame broil task Burger King does, but they toppings seem fresher.

Does anyone remember a burger restaurant called Fuddruckers? There's only 2 left in Georgia, the nearest one is an hour away. BEST bar-none burgers EVER! So huge you could eat on one for a week!
Fudds and Claim Jumpers are the two restaurants I sorely miss sicne becoming an expat.

As far as burgers go:

My top burger places: Islands (miss their guac burger), Fuddruckers, In and Out, 5 Guys, Shake Shack (their fries suck though), Red Robins

Middle of the road: Burger King, Jack in The Box, McDonalds (EU, Japan, Korea), Carl's Junior

Worst: Jollibees, McDonalds (US), Wendys, Johnny Rockets,

ALL chain burger shops owe their existence to Los Angeles car culture.
You could literally open a phone book and blindly stick your finger on any Mom and Pop burger shop here and you'd likely get a better experience than at any chain.
The chains are literally copying what L.A. did decades earlier.
Assume you are speaking in past tense, if not, you'll need to find a phone book first. 😁

There's a place in my hometown of Winnipeg called Junior's. They started out in a little shack in a parking lot near Portage & Main. They had burgers, hot dogs, fries and a lineup a mile long in the summer.

The burgers were the best I've ever had anywhere. So large and juicy you almost needed a shower after.

They expanded to several locations but the mass produced food wasn't as good.

White Castle opened in 1921 and is recognized as the original fast food restaurant in the US. Love ‘em or hate ‘em that’s a fact.

1. Steak & Shake
2. In N Out
3. Shake Shack
4. Wendy's
5. Burger King

Shake shack is pretty good, but if you don't like mushrooms you miss out on the full experience.

Never understood the love of Wendy's and/or BK. Just not my jam. And McD is what you eat when you have no choice, although their fries are still pretty good.

I always found InNOut to be really really greasy. I don't mind a good fatburger, but they are uncomfortably greasy.

Best fast food burger: any burger from a barbecue joint. If we don't include those and are just talking larger chains then Mighty Fine.
Locally I am going to shout out to Moonies. One of the last semi-Austin hippy places. Excellent burgers.

OMG girl we do have the same taste!! I loved Fuddruckers! We have one near my house. Yummy! I'll have to agree.
I liked their chili cheese fries and shakes. We used to take the kids there on Sundays.

I will bow to that however a White Castle burger is a rather singular and tiny sandwich, whereas most roadside sandwich stands offer a wide variety.
PS: In Bethesda MD we had the competition, Little Tavern and yes, Little Tavern showed up when Bethesda didn't even have the Walter Reed Medical Center, formerly known as Bethesda Naval Hospital, yet.
Food offerings IDENTICAL to White Castle, Wimpy himself would have been a fan.

All I can say is, I'd sure love to know the place where Leon Russell (admittedly very young in THIS photo!) got his hands on THESE burgers.😆

Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries, onion rings, shakes, drinks. Those are some combos.
