The article you link to deliberately, knowing begins with the most grotesque of deliberate lies. It begins by claiming Martin was begging for his life, then also asserting this because he was a black male - putting in the worn out picture of Martin from years early to portray him as a child.

IN FACT, BOTH eye witnesses stated it was Zimmerman begging for his life. Even Martin's own father said it was Zimmerman, not Martin, pleading for someone to help him.

But the editorialist wants a race war so the MSNCB African-American commentator lies, deliberately, knowingly completely...

Thus the link is worthless. Since he starts with the most grotesque possible lie swinging into he's-black-and-oppressed because all African-Americans are, and with the lie of claiming it was Martin begging for his life, continues. Since it begins as a lie piece, I assume it all a lie and exactly opposite the truth.

There is no evidence that Martin was just walking down the street and the telephone call with his girlfriend for how long it was proves he was NOT walking home. But it doesn't matter. What matters is the according to both eye witnesses - one known to be African-American - Martin was NOT walking down the street. He was felony aggravated assaulting Zimmerman and attempting to murder Zimmerman by repeatedly smashing his head into the concrete sidewalk - BY THE ROAD where Zimmerman said he was.

Oh, and when Martin was smashing Zimmerman's head into the concrete sidewalk Zimmerman pulled out his gun and shot Martin in the chest. I'll have to try that if I'm ever stupid enough to have my head repeatedly smashed into concrete.

Zimmerman was following him for no apparent reason in the dark and in the rain ... why would a reasonable person take Zimmerman at his word as he's reaching for something (possibly a gun)?

Yes, I think so too. But was that 8 feet or 1 foot. The amount and diameter of powder residue is a characteristic of the particular gun and ammunition. Having the gun and amo they will be able to resolve it more finely than 'close'.

I'm doubting a lot of this story. I'll wait for the forensics.

To go from banging his head on the ground to laying face down would require Zimmerman to move him from off of himself in an odd way. Did Martin end up laying on top of Zimmerman? Was Martin's blood on Zimmerman's shirt? Powder stains from the shot on both men?

Hmmm... it all seems a bit odd to me.

Anyway, they almost certainly did an autopsy and will obtain a lot of forensic evidence form there, including powder burns.

Zimmerman told them he lost sight of Trayvon and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from the left rear, and they exchanged words.
Trayvon asked Zimmerman if he had a problem. Zimmerman said no and reached for his cell phone, he told police.
Trayvon then said, "Well, you do now" or something similar and punched Zimmerman in the nose.
Zimmerman fell to the ground and Trayvon got on top of him and began slamming his head into the sidewalk, he told police.

The contention is that the PD didn't look hard enough for evidence that might "negate Zimmermans story." I think that's the source of the community's displeasure. Who is watching the watchmen?

Again, you don't know what "evidence" there is in the case, only what has been reported as facts and a lot of that is contradictory. The grand jury will have all the "evidence" in the matter and they won't be sharing it with the press. One thing nobody has to allege though is that Zimmerman was following Martin. Not only was he following Martin, but the police dispatch told him they did not need him doing that. So the one thing everyone should be able to agree on is that Zimmerman was following Martin.

Zimmerman, acting in the capacity of NW, was trying to keep someone under observation until police arrived.

That is not wrong behavior.

It is not behavior that negates his self defense claim.

Zimmerman's clear state of mind left rapidly when he was attacked.

A "suggestion" is not an instruction.
Saying; "Just let me know if this guy does anything else.'", is an instruction.

Because during their brief verbal exchange, Zimmer reached for his phone. It's plausible that Trayvon thought he was reaching for a gun.

Trayvon's thoughts are not dispositive of whether or not Zimmerman's actions were criminal.

I'm sorry. I taken qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, etc., as a chem major. Switched to engineering electronic and mechanical and spent years making measurements of many types and worked with many that did other types. So, I guess CSI has caught up to me.
