Many of the laws here in the USA are so disgusting and so messed up ...

Obviously women who enable abuse should be punished, but those will be beaten or killed if they resist, or can't flee shouldn't be penalised for this

The disproportionate number also reflect the number of deadbeat dads in our culture. Single parenting by Mom or Dad?

Probably very true, it's a culture that seems to reward men and punish women ^ sadly many approve and defend this system here in the USA

But he does bring up a good point. Why are so many in america still in love with that bullshit belief in the nuclear family set up. It is an ancient out of date badly thought out belief structure that dates back to the 13 century.
But the belief is so strong that instead of developing a society that reflects single parenting, instead you create a society where single mothers are treated as pariahs.

Note both parents can be charged with it. This is often used for parents who do things like not feed their kids or wander off to buy drugs and something happens to the child.

This is truly funny. I just had a read of your link. It is almost a copy of the nz anti smacking law.

Not sure I'm a fan of this, but it's a long document so I didn't read the whole thing. Negligent endangerment is one thing, but what are abused moms supposed to do to "protect" their kids, put the guy in an arm bar?

Some might say just leave. Get away. Move out. Live with friends or parents, or whatever. Which is so much easier said than done, and usually by those who have never experienced an abusive situation like this. Crafty abusers will segregate victims away from their social networks before the abuse starts. So by the time she finds out what kind of person he truly is, there's really nowhere to turn. Especially with kids. Abused moms and wives already have enough problems, and now they want to pile on criminal charges as if that will do anything good? That's hard for me to understand...
