The was an editorial in some paper in 2016 that claimed people lied to pollsters about their intention to vote for Trump making it seem like Trump had less support than he actually had. The last sentence in the Forbes article describes this phenomena: "His largest over-performance in a swing state came in Wisconsin, where he won by 0.7 points despite trailing by 6.5 points in the polls." Given Trump's unfortunate performance in the pandemic there are going to be even more people that hide their intention from pollsters. Every article enthusing about Biden's polling numbers needs to be countered by a very stern article stating the only way to elect Biden is to ignore the polls and get out and vote.
