It is at its core a reactionary backlash against mechanization effect on rural America. Rural states leveraged constitutional flaws to maintain their political influence despite dwindling population compared to the states their young people were leaving for to establish their futures.Killing your opposition, literally, murder. How is this talk even tolerated? You folks on the right tell us about your great patriotism while you're beating the hell out of cops on the steps of the capitol building for god's sake. Every day on here it is one complaint after another, nothing good to say about america, every single day. They offer us nothing but their desire to rule.
If you plan on voting republican, what is it you are voting for? The dems in the first year and a half have gotten much accomplished even with the gop fighting them every step of the way. All the doom and gloom the donald predicted will happen if the dems get into power....we're still waiting.
Pastors were enlisted in the turn of the century effort of 120 years ago and higher education was deemphasized. The goal has been to keep the young people "down on the farm," so to speak.

Despite the constitutional requirement that House seats be reapportioned to the states respective of their population every ten years according to the census, members of Congress failed to agree on a reapportionment plan following this census, and the distribution of seats from the 1910 census remained in effect until 1933. In 1929, Congress passed the Reapportionment Act of 1929 which provided for a permanent method of reapportionment and fixed the number of Representatives at 435.
This was the first census in which a state – New York – recorded a population of more than ten million.
This census also marked a significant population shift from rural to urban. .."
Rockefeller RINOs couldn't compete with New Deal democrats and dug deeper and deeper into religious and other wedge issues to attract enough voters to remain competitive. The RINOs offered disaffected southern whites an alternative from democrats calculation on civil rights after 1964.
The key to G.O.P. success is support of least educated whites in a party heavily influenced by politicized pastors, the media described in other posts in this thread and the financing provided by wealthiest RWE.
