"Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It’s up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge." Kaja Kallas.

I couldn't agree more. America is Putin's bitch and needs to be kicked to the curb.

Time for the grown ups to take charge.

Just hours after the terse exchange at the White House between Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on one side and US President Trump and Vice President JD Vance on the other, European leaders were quick to voice their full support for the war-torn country.

French President Emmanuel Macron did not mince words, stating, "There is an aggressor: Russia. There is a victim: Ukraine."

"We were right to help Ukraine and sanction Russia three years ago — and to keep doing so."

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he "retains unwavering support for Ukraine," in a statement from 10 Downing Street on Friday evening, while his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez wrote on X "Ukraine, Europe stands with you" in three languages — Spanish, English and Ukrainian.

This is how it should be. Euorpe, Ukraine, and Russia are the REAL stakeholders. Rare earth deal is just something Trump threw in to try to make something happen. To Me Z and Putin are one in the same. Giant egos and fight to the death using other people's money and lives. US got involved early on to prevent Ukraine from getting overrun, but after the stalemate Biden and his followers were played like a fiddle to keep this war going on indefinitely. The rest is history.

TRUMP is Putin’s bitch.
I don’t like the curb. Can we just be in time-out until he’s gone?

Europe should have stepped up long ago and stopped letting the US entrench itself so deeply in other countries to the point where they depend so strongly on our might.

It's a shame it took "America first, America alone" to get them to wake up, but I for one hope they do.

Sorry a madman who is going to ruin our own country is what may change the world order to more balance.

Oh of course - Trump is just a genius. You won't be able to see just how much of a genius he is until 1000 years from now, and by then we'll all be dead. Too bad.

Once the torch is passed its hard to get it back.

Your next POTUS might very well be Vance. The rest of the world has to be prepared for the fact that America might be a Russia ally for quite a long time.

It's not even that we're a Russia ally; it's that we're the world's most powerful nation and we're completely unstable.

Be prepared to spend more than 5% of your GDP on your (and Ukraine's) military.

Also, the technology level of European militaries is about a generation behind the US so this will result in less capability for Ukraine. Therefore needing increased quantities of munitions (so even more money).

Yep, the rest of the world has no idea where they stand now with Trump in charge.
The UK has invited him for a state visit but I can see him cancelling as he's getting on airforce one because there's a huge protest in London and he's offended.

He's just as likely to make a press statement slamming the UK as make one in support.

Erm, you don't know many of the companies that make US weapons are European and we have a vast defence industry?

BAE is a prime example and they make loads of stuff for the US.

Not the exquisite weapons. You are not making SDBs or HARM or HIMARs rockets. You also don't have the capability to produce 155mm artillery shells in the quantity needed by Ukraine.

Until and unless they start cutting ties with the US this is just talk, and therefore pretty much meaningless. .

Why would we do that? Trump made it clear that he's not spending any more money on Ukraine unless we can extort rare earth metals from them. That deal collapsed today.

I know more about BAE than you do. And Raytheon. And Northrup Grumman. And Lockheed Martin. And Boeing.

Well then you know they have the expertise and experience to create cutting edge military equipment.
BAE has bought many US defence companies in the last few decades.

Blah, blah, blah...

Let's see them put their taxpayer money where their mouth is.

Erm, storm-shadow missile?
You think we can't make our own bombs?
How many can you make in a year? How many SDBs are Ukraine dropping daily? You don't have the industry base. Haven't had it since before WW2.
