That's CNN's take. Here's how the article begins:

Elon Musk is misleading the public — again.

The embattled billionaire, perhaps seeking to distract from the chaos he has wrought at his social media company, is making grossly misleading claims about Twitter and the FBI. And those claims are being blindly amplified to millions by Fox News and the rest of the powerful right-wing media machine which seems to have no interest in the pesky truth and instead has repeatedly shown they’ll contort stories to fit preconceived and erroneous narratives.

Hmm…. it’s supported by an opinion source, no less.

The author doesn’t even try explain how releasing the government’s and Twitter’s own communications is “misleading.”

I know you're MAGA bots and aren't interested in facts and definitely didn't read the article, but Musk tried to make it seem like the government was paying millions to censor people, when in reality, the money was part of Twitter's publicly stated policy of charging law enforcement agencies for doing work related with lawful requests, which companies are REQUIRED BY LAW to cooperate with.

He intentionally made misleading statements because he has a political agenda.

From the article neither of you read:

Twitter’s guidelines for law enforcement, posted publicly on its website, openly disclose: “Twitter may seek reimbursement for costs associated with information produced pursuant to legal process and as permitted by law (e.g., under 18 U.S.C. §2706).” That law states that the federal government will pay companies for their efforts “obtaining the contents of communications, records, or other information” a fee “for reimbursement for such costs as are reasonably necessary and which have been directly incurred in searching for, assembling, reproducing, or otherwise providing such information.”

Which is to say that the money Twitter collected had nothing to do with censoring anyone. The money was simply given as reimbursement for the processing of legal requests, similar to how a journalist might have to pay a fee for a government agency processing a Freedom of Information Act request. As Alex Stamos, the former chief security officer at Facebook and partner at the cyber consulting firm Krebs Stamos Group, wrote Tuesday, “This is absolutely nothing to do with content moderation.”

The basic premise of the drops are that people who get their alternative news from Twitter are getting real news. They aren't. We don't have elections on Twitter. Twitter is easy to ignore. The idea that Twitter changes minds is either about dumb voters or dumb twitposts.

Since the Trump supporters lie about everything else, Im waiting for a real news outlet verifies the story. My suspension this morning is that this is an elaborate scam of counterfeit paper.

And yet, we have the communications that Twitter was doing work which it would presumably have requested compensation for for requests from the FBI outside the legal process from the horse’s mouth. And they certainly would have expected to be compensated for the work they were doing for the DOD.

Good post. Musk is trump's brother from another mother, the one with some brains in his head. Funny how the traitor trump suckers and defenders here are now pumping up their chests to defend another scumbag. They are transparent and pathetic. Today's righwing nutters have no integrity, honesty or patriotism. 🤡

I think the 'files' are selectively supplied, to legitimate and credible journalists but at least some who can be counted on to support a narrative in how they are viewed, that they are factually accurate for selective information with an editorial bias.

That would make sense, best explanation so far.

Is everything released in context? is what we are seeing everything? very easy to mislead by letting out some of the information.

100%

The Twitter files are currently a big joke lol
only nutters are getting all up in arms and inspired by them

if something real and ILLEGAL comes out ill care

until then Twiiter is the same today as it was tomorrow

it will go on removing, reinstating, deleting, editing, suspending, blocking, banning, and greenlighting posts and posters which is it right
it did it before and its doing it now

the only one getting exposed currently is musks dishonesty and hypocrisy 🤷‍♂️

To be fair, I don't think documents not released are likely hiding important context about these issues. They are hiding other issues about Twitter's history presumably. I don't think we'll be seeing 'Twitter files' about Musk's hidden conversations.

What the communications prove is that both Twitter and Facebook were State actors. And what the totality of the record shows is that it wasn’t just our State.

Should we shut down twitter? Assume the "state actor" nonsense is true... What is the remedy?

And as we've seen from the Twitter Files, the FBI has none of the first 2 qualities as well.

We'll find out when the Republicans launch House investigations of the FBI's involvement with Twitter, now won't we?

No. Any more than we found anything useful from their Benghazi garbage.
