General order #25 issued March 6, 1863 required the Confederate Army to return any blacks captured back to their owners. As to the label of 'free', it all depended on who was telling the story. Dred Scott thought he was free, but he wasn't. Just because blacks made it North, didn't make them free.

Except the African Americans they encountered didn’t have owners. They were free people, kidnapped and sold into slavery.

Pennsylvania had banned slavery for decades by the time of the war. Slaver demands that slavery be imposed on the state no longer mattered by 1863.

We weren’t told that while the Irish starved in the potato famine England continued to grow and export other crops in Ireland.

Why is it my turn. You're the one who said in post #(186) , "Constitution Amendments are how we amend the Constitution" But that says nothing. Constitutional Amendments are amendments to the Constitution. Not the 'how'. I asked in post #(191) to explain the how. To which you continue to crawfish.

Yankee B.S.

Abolitionist North made no distinction between escaped slaves or free slaves . No distinction between arresting a runaway slave or kidnapping a free slave. All were kidnapped in their eyes. In other words, just because they whine about blacks being kidnapped means nothing.

And, if they don't make the distinction, why should the South?

The Fugitive slave law still existed. Slavery could be illegal in Pennsylvania, but they still must return the runaway slave. Constitutional law.

He sure did. By the bayonet. But, he also was willing to enslave blacks forever if the South would not secede. Lincoln cared not one iota for blacks. He cared about the union. So, tear that Lincoln Memorial down.
