Dr. Neil DeGrasse

A worthy succesor to Sagan.

A worthy succesor to Sagan.

Not yet... Carl Sagan was a pioneer. He disregarded so many people telling him not to do what he did because "common people" were not ready to hear what he wanted to say.

Sagan is on a class of his own.

We don't have such a great scientist and a moral human being in our times... yet.

Perhaps, but DeGrasse Tyson can talk for hours and I never become tired of his thought process.

He is the one who should have his talk about being a young boy and becoming excited about astrophysics be played to our elementary students. He inspires you to learn more.

Same here. I love hearing and watching this guy talk.

I would equate Michio Kaku more so with Sagan.

But DeGrasse and Kaku make it easier for the uneducated to understand.

I really enjoy hearing him speak. He's pretty funny when he is on shows like The Daily Show and Colbert Report.

The guy is a badass, simple as that.

I really doubt of the uneducated are watching them. They are busy watching the Dancing With The Stars.

Here is a talk from Dr Kaku and it is so on the spot. That isn't an exaggeration either.

Yes.

Our secret weapon are people like DeGrasse and Kaku. ;)

It is also why the country should set standards on whom can immigrate and foster this type of education of our own.

If we didn't have immigrants who would be teaching science and math at our colleges? Seriously, my son is a microbiology major in college and his biggest hardship is understanding the English of the prof and his teaching assistants. Where is Digsbe at, he is a college science major.

I wish our dumbass leaders would wake up to this fact. I think it would be great if they would create science and math clubs for kids that would equal the number of sport clubs across our country. I am no better as every Saturday for many years I have traveled miles for soccer and baseball games.

A friend of mine who teaches high school choir took a class to Los Angelos a couple years ago. While sitting in the parking lot of a school down there on a Saturday, he noticed car after car pulled into the parking lot to drop off middle school aged kids. Most notable was the fact they were all of Asian descent. The Asian population was a minority in this area so the curiosity got to him and he asked someone what the kids were attending. He found out they had a math club.

Respectfully, I disagree.
It is not the job of schools or Gov. to start such things.
Provide the space for such, sure.

Carl Sagan said alot when he said about ships from outer space, "I'll believe when I see one".

Have you heard the story about how Sagan took him on a tour of his school and spent the day with Tyson?

Apparently it was a life-changing experience for Tyson. It worked out well for the rest of us. I'm glad Tyson is doing what he does. Hopefully he'll spend a day with another young kid and pass the torch.
