Ok sure, I buy the TDS thing to a point and have been guilty myself, but believing “everything” the news says has never been a good idea for anybody at any time. Critical thinking has always been a thing, whether or not there have been large groups of people who couldn’t employ it, or were kept from doing so in some way. So that solves that.

I’m thinking your latter point is more salient. The useful idiot thing. Don’t you think that cuts both ways? Idiots on the fringes of the left and right were handed tools enabling them for a while to reach much larger audiences, and at some point, without a functioning media, shit falls down.

I’m pretty confident the backlash will come and people will reclaim trust in some sort of functioning media.

When I talking about "Elites", I'm talking about the Elites from BOTH parties.

It's just that right now, the Elites of both parties are aligned against Trump. When "Trump is REALLY gone", the Elites will go back to their globalist games and the media will play along on whichever side they like. (some will even play on BOTH sides)

As far as people coming to trust media again...yes. They trust and believe all the nonsense they get from the media.

Maybe not so much “whichever side they like” as much as whichever side makes more money for the company. They are capitalists. But yes, otherwise a fair point.

The “elites” as you say are a symptom of capitalism without regulation, no? Or is that just my lefty side showing? We could say it’s corruption in general, but that’s only possible when regulation is light or easily malleable. Well, or nonexistent.

Not really. As a person who has to rely on what others reveal, you have no way of determining the truth of something. For instance, you and others (named, not you, you're anonymous) have claimed the election was stolen, but you give no solid evidence. How would we determine if this is fake or not?

No.

Regulation isn't the problem nor the answer. It's about politicians who are more interested in money, power and position...all interrelated...than about serving their voters. Trying to use regulation to control corruption is useless, since those who enact the regulations ARE the corrupt.

The voters are the only solution. Unfortunately, the voters are easily manipulated by the media. And guess who the media supports...yep, the corrupt politicians.

Sounds like the universal problem when dealing with humans in general. I would argue that’s the reason for regulations in the first place. It was the whole idea behind our government from the beginning. Not a direct democracy, but a republic. That way there are protections against mob rule AND tyranny. Of course both sides chip away at that, and all kinds of grifters make a good living in the margins. That is until resources become scarce, or our growth becomes such that it can’t be sustained (with adequate profit). Then we end up where we are now. First we start micro-managing things and leaving fewer and fewer scraps. Our politics become polarized (we are not more polarized now than ever, that’s a myth) and our “battles” become more and more real.

I’d agree we need the voters to rise up but if say 90% of the people voted in the country, conservatives (as they are today) wouldn’t win another election until the world scale tipped back towards nationalism or authoritarianism again. And that happens when innovation is outpaced by demand or our systems growth requirements.

We need to find a way to keep riding this bull while we jump onto the fresh horse running along side us, and we need a good media to be our watchdogs. They also have to keep riding the bull they’re on or be replaced. They are part of our economy.

I’d call that pretty slanted. I’m no Biden fan, but Trump was worse. And maybe the media apparatus has me brain washed, but I doubt it.

For me, no matter what my political beliefs are, tearing down something without a viable replacement isn’t smart, or helpful. Yes, the system is corrupt, but it has to be taken apart from the inside and replaced as we go. If you intentionally divide people you get short term gains and long term trouble.
